You are definitely not alone! 575M might be my first lottery-win purchase while I sized up my options.

Beautiful yes, rapid enough yes, future classic possibly?, and designed with enough luxury in mind for a good few thousand miles of swanning about in style.

Had a look at one of these at the TVR Tuscan race event at Oulton Park and was totally underwhelmed by it.

Looked extremely nice from the outside, but the inside was truly awful - it looked cheap and plasticky with a total lack of design flair. When it drove off, it sounded like a wasp in a jam jar, not like a supercar should.

Parked next to it was a reflex purple TVR Tuscan which showed just what an interior should be like. And when it started, it sounded like Thor with his privates caught in a rat trap. It was so gorgeous I almost bought it there and then.

If only Ferrari could produce a car which is the complete package of performance, looks, handling, design, finish and reliabilty. They always seem to fall down in at least 2 areas but not always the same ones.

that would have been mine then.

each to their own but its the first time ive heard a tubid Ferrari V12 being referred to as a wasp in a jam jar. As for the interior, I woud agree that it could be improved however it is of its time.

Personally I love mine and like the interior. I was always a fan of TVRs having owned many up until the point when the Tsscan design came out. I find them over the top, the T350 was a success though. The reflex paint has also never done anything for me since Nissan stuck it on the Micra and the rest of the range.

I went for the 575 ( in silver) as I adored the shape and the V12. The fact that mine costa little more than a nice 550 was a bonus.

Jeez. This reads like a Ferrari press release on their used car scheme. Feed the journo some nice machinary and tracktime, bore him to death with how great their used scheme is and watch in amazement as an 'unbiased' article on it gets published.

I'm in no doubt Ferrari will sell you a nicely checked over car, but when you consider the markup over an indi or private sale it doesn't seem such an amazing deal.

If it was me I'd get an independent specialist to check over a car I was looking to buy. They'd be more thorough than many 'wrench monkeys' and not have any conflict of interest.
Yep, I wouldn't trust the Ferrari boys as far as I could throw them. As far as I'm concerned, an F-car can go expensively wrong at anytime, Ferrari inspection or not. I don't know if they throw in a warranty with the check, but I doubt it. The 575 in the article went into limp-home.... I'd rather have a much cheaper car and have money in the bank for any problems that *will* occur, Ferrari approved or not.

or scottish!

love the idea of a 575 but a gt car aint much use if you're terrified of racking up the miles like every 'rarri owner ive met!

Don't get me wrong - your car's got a LOT going for it (partly that it goes like hell, looks gorgeous from the outside, handles well and won't spend its entire life thinking up novel ways to kill you, unlike some TVRs do), but I can't help thinking that Ferrari and TVR could have done a lot for each other. If they'd pooled expertise, they could have produced a car that not only went like stink, but sounded great, had a prestigious image, handled brilliantly, had a state of the art interior and fabulous outside looks but STILL broke down expensively and catastrophically from time to time. Perhaps my expectations of your car's exhaust note were too high and I HAD just been listening to a supercharged 4.5 Chimaera which was making some utterly amazing noises.

That Tuscan WAS gloriously over the top in some areas and the straight six engine needs very careful handling until warmed up but it is an affordable (near) supercar and that interior is simply to die for. The reflex paint looks stunning on a decent car; Micras and Minis are just not suitable.

I guess both Ferraris and TVRs are cars that are amazing in most ways but have faults which you either can take and live with or which simply put you off the marque for life.

Apart from driving feedback and performance, am I the only one who considers the 360/550-575/456 Ferrari generation as the best looking one since 20 years?
Those lines are timeless, modern yet classic. A bit like the front of a Porsche Carrera GT: just simple lines without over-worked details.
Imho, of course.
Seconded... The 90's was a great (modern) decade for Ferrari. Especially the 355! lick
I love the 355.

550/575's are the pinnacle Ferrari V12 GT's IMO, love the 599 too, but the simplicity and the graceful lines of the earlier cars seal the deal for me,

cool
