RE: Geneva Rumours: New TT For Audi?
Discussion
Whilst being a realist and assume that Audi is still some way of making cars that can rival a Porsche/Lotus/Ferraris for driver focussed car with the right blend of involvement, power and handling (R8 excepted), I for one would be interested in a mid engined RWD 2 seater sports car with Audi build quality and design.
You could say I could go back to a Lotus for that product but am put off by my past experience of Elise ownership which I enjoyed immensely (driving experience) but was sick of taking the car back 12 times in a year for niggles and build faults. I've has 5 VAG cars in the last 10 years and have only taken it back for warranty work twice for all the cars combined (1 Golf, 3 Polos and current TT).
If the R4 does happen, provided it's not priced too unrealistic it would slot in well between the R8 and TT.

I've been saying this since talk of an "R4" started. The TT-RS is already nipping the heels of the standard V8 R8; I couldn't see how they could slot a car between them. Would be too much market overlap. Here's hoping it replaces the TT. The only way an R4 might work is if Audi get rid of the TT-RS, and only offer the R8 with the V10. That way, a performance R4 could slot in between the TT-S and the V10 R8.

Looks like they didn't ask the translation guys before going public with the name

No way would this replace the TT why would they replace a 2+2 front engined coupe with a 2 seater mid-engined sports car?
It would sit alone side the T quite nicely I think, maybe even tempt some buyers away from the Boxers or Z4s simply because it would be RWD.
And
If they put the 5-pot turbo in it they will be onto a real winner all just my opinion however.

OK, lets say this becomes an R6, sandwiched between the R8 and TT (eventually replaced with and renamed R4).
Would it be out of the question to have options of the existing TTRS engine or RS4/base R8 engine as well as needless to say some hybrid number?
Like the look of it. No. Love the look of it.
VW & Porsche have a history of sharing platforms since before I was born, so with design this good... bring them on
