love these cars, especially with the tt such a bargain these days. The only thing Im not sure on is the fried eggs, but I've seen headlamp covers that seem to tidy them up. Techart I think. Nice write up.
Yes, the 4WD twin Turbo GT3 is a great car...There's a fair bit of Asperger's/Autism on PH today...

996 MK2 GT3 is a better car! Better Brakes / Looks / Gearbox / More Power...... "cough"

"Flame Suit On and Ready"
Ha, I suppose you thought that post would go unnoticed didn't you ?
The MK2 better looking ?
Maybe to :
If not either of the above you need : www.specsavers.co.uk/stores
But I concur, if you like dull, uninspiring cars I'd agree the Mk2 is the better car for you . . .
As for your comment on the brakes, it's simply countered with : Learn how to brake properly ! (my MK1 brakes have the benefit of some larger cooling ducts and have never been found wanting (on the road) but if we're going to trot out the usual well tried and trusted defence of the MK 1 brakes let's start with (they were good enough for a certain Mr W Rohrl to set a decent enough time of 7:56.33 around the 'Ring when the car was released . . . .
Better gearbox ? A set of steel synchros and allegedly "better" bearings ? My MK1 box has done 64K miles without any problems whatsoever. A case for owners of the MK 2 cars learning how to change gear properly perhaps ?
More powerful engine ? 21 hp ? Great for bar room bragging rights, but the Mk1s engine isn't exactly breathless in comparison, but then if you're struggling to brake and change gear properly I guesss every little helps !
"Flame Suit On and Ready" . . . . . .
And just to remind you once again how superior the MK 1 is in the looks department
P.S
All the above said in jest, they're BOTH great cars
It's just that the MK1 is so much better looking . . . .

If its the things I am thinking of, they were awful Looked like those very naff 'twin headlight conversion' stickers that were popular in the 90's
ETA - these?

Rear seats aren't generally required in motorsport - and add unnecessary weight. These were therefore removed which, together with the deletion of other fripperies, brought the weight down to 1350kg.
Was the GT3 not heavier than the standard C2?Edited by monthefish on Tuesday 11th May 11:19
