Off topic but I see a lot of VAG cars with rear wipers stuck in the vertical position. Is it a scene thing or a common fault with VAG rear wiper motors?
Common fault. The water pipe runs through the motor and leaks, killing the motor.

My friend's mx5. Was on his driveway and he was out of the house. A neighbour on the road is even worse off and nobody has any idea how or who it all happened! :/

Have you checked your neighbour's car for the same paint as yours?

That looks like vandal damage rather than accident... Perhaps your friends neighbour has a few enemies, and they did your friends car before doing the neighbours.

I presume in this instance when all the airbags exploded and the DSG gearbox locked up it cuts the electric and they stuck in situ.

It definitely wasn't always up in the air like a cats tail!
Could just be the force of the impact dragging it up, quite a bit of energy going on there.

I can't even imagine how to do that damage unless I used a car?

Was it moved after impact, no sign of any accident detritus around the car, and no tell tale on the tyre.

I reckon that's either a truck or a large van that's done that, saw an artic turn around in the parking area where I used to work, it got the bumper bar on the rear of the trailer caught on one car and just pulled it and the next two cars about like they weighed nothing!!!!

A fully loaded 44T tractor unit and trailer can do some serious damage without barely registering a scratch on themselves.
They're serious, serious bits of kit.

Doesn't even need to be that big, as Mrs72 would be able to tell you after the rear of a commercial bin lorry erased most of the rear quarter of her shed runabout in a work car park. It looked like a train had hit it

A 19 year old lad was caught on CCTV and crashed a little further up the road into another car and demolished a low wall. He was taken in for questions and his girlfriend, on the front passenger seat, ended up in hospital. He'd been speeding down the residential road (30mph), maybe doing 60 or more, seems he slammed into the corner of the neighbour's car parked on the road itself, almost bouncing off it, onto matey boy's mx5, then off that into the low wall. Still unclear but at least the silly boy has been captured.

I reckon he’ll get at least a £500 fine and told not to do it again.

Not with a injured passenger, I think suspended sentence or even prison?

Not me personally but a 650S spider earlier today in Bracknell, apparently driven by a service technician.

Soon to be an ex service technician, I'd imagine.

Most likely. The car looks comprehensively borked.
