Not mine - happened lastnight other side of the ‘village’. Allegedly 120mph in a 30 zone. Young lad, allegedly on those “gas” cylinders.

Hit a telephone pole, 2 lamp posts (all set at back on the pavement) and the some poor bds work van and their Volvo xc40 (pushed that into next doors garden)

Start of carnage (note lamps hanging down on lampposts

Work van and Volvo XC40

Weapon of choice ? Anybody work out what car this is ?

Hopefully he wasn’t wearing a seatbelt.

No way that’s 120mph, there would be nothing left after hitting so much at those speeds.

Mercedes CLA?

Edit: Beaten to it!
Seems to be the car of choice for some complete bell ends, was saying bye to my parents when one comes thundering past on their quiet residential road, two lads no more than 20 dressed in the road man uniform get out of a more or less new A45 AMG, fair play but seems like an accident t waiting to happen.

Not sure how much forces it takes to snap a telephone pole clean at it’s base, then careen/fly approx 80-100metres down the road - but I assume maybe doing a bit over the 30MPH speed limit …..

Having seen the CCTV - my money is on north of 100mph at the least.

And when I say fly - I do mean flying/spinning about 4-5 foot up in the air.

Is the driver still in one piece?

Can you post it?
Initially I thought the car went high enough to snap the light fixtures at the top of the pole but assume it hit lower and the transmitted force going up the pole dislocated the lamps up top.

Yes - my thoughts are the lights were glancing blow/not enough to snap them off - just dislodge the top light fitting - drove by earlier - all had been chopped off (Stihl Saw by looks of things) @ about 5 feet tall. Telephone pole definitely snapped at clean off @ base as below

VIDEO

Not mine - so can’t/won’t post it up (yet) likely all part of the evidence they’ll use against the driver.

I know 3 of the houses directly impacted all have CCTV cameras - so likely no shortage as/when it becomes available.

Other Side of Village

Wednesday there was a fatal motorbike accident just down the road from my house.

Fatal Motorbike

So for this to happen 3 days afterwards beggars belief.

2 schools of thought on that opinion (and everybody is entitled to their own !!)

1. Put yourself in harms way, suffer the consequences.

2. Hopefully just enough to be a wake up call, he’s then going to suffer the fallout from the courts/insurance (and most likely the worse of the lot from his parents given age that has been banded around)

As nobody else hurt in this instance (other than shock/upset/loss of earnings (works van)) etc

That’s quite amazing given the state of the car and the level of carnage. Says a lot for modern safety features!

Perhaps living at home still and spending a huge chunk of their wage on the car. Or doing a lot of overtime standing around smoking. Each to their own but more often than not I see A45s and CLA45s being driven like they've been stolen!

Jesus fking Christ!!!
I hate to say it but you just know that the driver will get nothing more than a ban and a fine, he won't do time, he won't be stopped from doing it again and won't have any regrets about having done it In the first place.

Jesus. That's quite an achievment. He must have had a good run up in his 1.3L 134BHP CLA180.

Future applications for insurance could be interesting.

When an LS400 meets a transit van that's veered 2ft over my side of the road.

This is the gouge in the road left by his steel wheel - tyre came off the rim. He wasn't on his phone, obviously...

It ended up on a high verge which squashed the whole underside as well as the lower front bumper and crash structure.
So even without the rear quarter damage it was a goner.

Only had it 2 months frown
This is good enough to buy back as salvage. The 1UZ-FE engine in an LS400 is worth good money even if the car is declared Cat B. Quite a few IS200s are getting V8 swaps via this route.

Top speed is 134mph, getting close to top speed in any car takes, as you say, some run up! It's a 1.3 blower ffs.

Remarkable pictures of the car there. Lucky there were no trees hit or matters would have been different, I suspect.
