Nice to hear the car came back and is driven as it's meant to be! Just don't kill it lol.Lovely car! Mrs Foilist keeps grumbling about how impractical the M635 is with only 2 doors- I might get one of these just for her...
When I was much younger my mum had a E28 525 that I managed to crash when when the rear end stepped out. Luckily the same thing had happened to her in the local Tesco's carpark a month earlier, so she decided it wasn't my fault

My mate has a Diamond black E28 M5 - number 50 of 187 I think. What a machine. Very quick for it's time, and still keeps with / destroys modern metal.
Looks so menacing too!
Yeah 187(so one of the rarest Ms in UK) - apparently last one was special build for BMW GB boss at time Paul Layzell as his was written off and is now owned by Richard Baxter, Chairman of the M Power Section of the BMW Car Club.- although curiuosly for such a prominent car there appears to be no online pics?My mate has a Diamond black E28 M5 - number 50 of 187 I think. My Dad had a nearly new E30 325i and one day we went over to Birds in Beaconsfield to enquire about performance enhancements for the car (mostly due to me badgering him).
The salesman said 'dont spend your money on that, I have just what you need'
In a few minutes he had pulled round the front in a Red E28 M5. He took us for a blast up the dual carriage way and 140mph was reached in no time. To us it was awesome and the acceleration was stunning. It wasnt clever but I never forgot that day and it was something we would talk about for years afterwards.
A shame the old man isnt about to see my M5 .

I have an article here by David Vivian from 1986............
"Real excitement tends to be inferior....no sense of occasion.....too detatched for intimacy.....somewhat cold and clinical......just another shoehorn special".
I'm sure he regrets that now! The M5 was as exciting then as it is now.

This is mine; (pics from my website), from some time in the late eighties.
It was a 535i Motorsport with the 12 valve head, but I had breathed on it a bit and fitted a Schrick cam.
It was a mental car on the motorway, and the ultimate driver's car. Far, far better than subsequent 5 Series.
Those really were the days!

No disrespect, but an M535i <> M5. Different kettle of fish.It was a 535i Motorsport with the 12 valve head, but I had breathed on it a bit and fitted a Schrick cam.
