This car seems to be aimed straight at the people who would otherwise be buying from Brabus (that is, half the MB top brass!).

I wonder where the Bottrop fellahs will go from here...

this car, you have you opinions and thats mine, i cannot see the point of a car with this size engine and gross styling, it just shows a lack of thought in choice of car,

x6 is another perfect example, because my opinion is different to yours i am slated

the germans make some lovely cars, but this i've got to have the biggest engine etc is just pathetic

i drive a subaru legacy b spec 3litre which will probably make you squirm but it does everything anyone could want, and its subtle not vulgar

i have not called you names because your opinion differs from mine, thats a very narrow minded action

cue the slating back now

This is a really pointless car, there is no reason for a big luxo-barge to need that power.

It's tastless and vulgar like some redneck petrol-heads idea of a luxery car, to drive to and from swamp buggy racing.

Have you been down your local Getrankemarkt recently ?

Theoretically there's plenty of choice, but in practice
getting anything else than Pils/Export/Weizenbier is tricky.

Ok, there are local specialities like Alt, Kolsch and the
appalling Berliner Weisse.

Roggenbier, Rauchbier and the rest are speciality stuff only
and you'll have to search hard to find any it.

Does it get to 60, real quick, then to 100, then to 150 and beyond with a V8 soundtrack while still remaining supremely comfortable for a 6'5"er?
Nope thought not. That's not everything then is it?

Gumsie, do you drive at 150? Even at 100?????

Cars like this are bought as penis extensions, which in and of itself is fine, but its idiotic because hardly no one in the general public knows what "S63" and "AMG" mean anyway so they don't even fulfill the role.

My dad has a current gen S500, and while I would have enjoyed driving an S63 if he bought one, for his purposes (he is 62) it woiuld have been absolutely pointless.

My neighbor recently bought an Aston DBS, previously had an SL65, and I coudln't resist slating him for his prev purchase of the SL65. To which he protested "no the SL was quite nice actually" - erm actually mate no it wasn't because you drove it like an SL350!

You must be new here. We all have private roads.

As a side point a Legacy Spec B will do 150mph and isn't exactly slow to 60 either. I personally think this vulgar overkill. A 240bhp 3 litre is just perverse!

0 -6omph 5.5 seconds, top speed 147mpy, not bad for a family estate, subtle not vulgar, understated not over the top, class not lack of class

as the guy said above penis extension, the majority of other road users will look and think the same

fine i you like over priced carsd like this , where can you go over 150mph anyway we dont all have private roads long enough or live near an autobahn

when i said the legacy does all you need, i meant carries 5 in comfort, sure footed with awd, excellent spec with all the extras merc and bmw charge for included, and in spec b the ability to shake off most so called performance cars

we are all entitled to our opinions and your opinion is not wrong, seeing the world through someone elses eyes is a quality some dont have

i understand why someone would hanker after this merc, a show off and look at me person, im not that person hence the subaru

try the gtb, i had mine 97 reg gtb estate reading 176mph on the tomtom and it was still going, i bottled it

and it could out accelarate most things

only draw back very low fuel consumption when you use both turbos, collaberation with Porcshe at the time to prove an estate could offer performance and handling

wish i'd never sold it but work pay for the spec b

who needs a 6.3 ltr, which is not what it says anyway, at least the spec b is what is says and good looking

Sigh. You are a joyless soul aren't you?

I can assure you that what you think is comfort is relative to your own experience. If you put five people in a luxury saloon they are going to be more comfortable than your scooby. And if you'd like to compare specs then I'll happily wave my willy in front of you, too!

As far as "shaking off so called performance cars" go you have both missed the point of these uber saloons and also feel the need to wave your own willy at being able to be a boy racer. Again, luxury saloons are not about screaming engines and holding on tight - they deliver effortless power to eat up miles in unrivalled comfort.

Oh, and I own a 3 litre diesel too, so I can speak from direct experience of owning and enjoying two very different classes of car. You may be happy with your Scooby but your opinion doesn't appear to come from experience of the luxury market.

I was reading this topic looking for the one person who manages to hate this car...

The spec. B is a fine car, and its good if someone has a car they're chuffed with, but come on, the S63 is just "epic".

"Pointless" just shows really that there is engineering and excitement in the design. Most of my dream cars are pointless - Bugatti T35b, XKSS, Miura, 850CSI (I just like it...), but thats the great thing about them. I've never been brave enough to buy a truly wonderful/pointless car, but doesn't mean I don't like them just because they are a bit poor value in absolute terms.

Forget the price, imagine you have the keys, the sat nav set to Durness/Vienna and appreciate it for what it is!
