Its a motorsport badge. It does not signify it is an M car
They way people say m-sport after there car they buy, is anything better than a few badges and maybe alloy's and suspension to mean a lot. It is just a marketing tool, for example ford people don't say Zetec atfer there car engine size..
Well in my opinion, since the M-sport BMW's look totally different to the SE models, when talking to people who know about cars, I will differentiate.

When talking to anyone else, I say 3 series.
would you not just say "my car"
Well if I'm talking about the car, then I will mention which car as I have 2. If it's a passing comment in which the car is irrelevant, for example "I'm just going to get the car" then I will of course, just say the car or my car etc.

I was assuming we were talking however, about times we are discussing the actual car. Why else would I even say 3 series let alone M-sport? I can't imagine someone saying that "sorry I can't have another, I'm in the 3 series" etc.

yes totally different...or slightly different.scratchchin

The truth is you say it because it is seen by some to be one step down from a full M car. Not your fault, like I said early, it is Marketing, a trim level.

Thanks for telling me the truth rolleyes

I really do NOT say it because some people see it as one step below the M cars - I really have nothing to prove to people.

Most of my friends are into cars, and when I discussed the car I purchased, it was relevant to say M-sport.

I did clarify that in general conversation, whether I'm driving my 911 or the BMW, I just say "the car/my car" unless the model of car is relevant to the conversation.

I think it's slightly presumptuous of you to say that "the truth is" that it's because of reasons you think some say it - the truth is that you're incorrect smile

Lets face it kitcar is pretty non specific a bit like saying I own a covertable
That would be more like telling someone you had a katcir.

Boss just dropped a corker. Was talking about how they now have Shell V-Power at the garage by the end of the road...

"Yeah it was on the radio earlier actually

....They even have that new fuel with all the extra adjectives in it"

hehe. How many adjectives does fuel have in it?

Depends if you're listening to someone who's just had to fill up a petrol 4x4 ... I'm sure it's got plenty of adjectives then, although the swear filter would block most of them! hehe

"It wasn't my fault, your car is too small for my mirrors." The words of a lorry driver who hadn't seen a mates missus as he pulled across into lane one. Apparently it was his first day with his new company.

They would, they would in a disconcerted effert to avoid saying "einen" end up saying an.

Are you saying Germans have no sense of humour? It's alright, I won't mention your lack of punctuation.

Don't worry about it, on PH, you must have either the poverty-spec model or the all-singing, all-dancing model. Only with these can you show you're a serious driver. If you have a car somewhere in between, especially one whose spec implies some vague sporty look, then you're a either a patsy for marketing-talk, a wannabe t0sser or just plain stupid.
