I am so glad I started reading this after everyone else left the office rofl

I was going to suggest a thermos for the fuel tank but the colostomy bag idea is genius!

Its alive! Well sort off. The engine is in and you can rev it on the thumb throttle but it stalls after a few blips.

There is no drive to the wheels yet as we aren't quite sure how to it.

Currently there is no clutch or gear linkage in place.

With a hacked up backend there is enough space to kick start it.

We are calling it a day for now as the tractors are back and they need the in to fix stuff.

Tomorrow we hope to get the gears and clutch going and stick on the exhaust. Hopefully we will come up with a solution for the chain and rear sprocket

We hope we can test drive it on sunday.

'Insane inventors killed in explosion'
- Reports today suggest that on impact with a wall, after realising the mad chariot had no brakes, managed to rupture a colostomy bag full of petrol, creating a blazing inferno.

Either that or we need an update!!

PS for the brakes / rear drive.... how about a straight axle, and butcher the disk brakes off the scooter? Similar to a go-kart.

His last post was Friday. Someone who was experimenting with a homemade vehicle and asking for advice on a petrol tank hasn't posted in 4 days after experimenting with said vehicle. HMMMM.

WRT brakes - all mobility scooters have an electro-magnetic brake which is very effective.
Unfortunatly for the OP it is attached to the electric motor smile

Some have an mechanical brake but, without exception, they are useless smile

The other thing about mobility scooter is that they understeer very badly biggrin
This is due to having very little weight over the front wheels, no ackerman and poor tyres. Under the right conditions you can actually get them to go straigh on with full lock appiled laugh

But the above should not stop the op, brakes and steering are minor details wink

Before you ask - I used to mend these things!

I found this out the hard way. Pissing about on one years ago and found the lack of brakes as I crashed through someone's conservatory. Once the glass stopped raining down on me, the owner pushed me away from the wreckage and sent me on my way!!

Sorry but have been really busy this week and not been able to get into the workshop. Hopefully we will be able to get to work on it tomorrow.

Yes I appreciate no pics could mean a wind up but I promise I will get round to taking some with the obligatory custard shot!

Ours has mechanical brakes so no worries there wink

Never knew about the understeer. I suppose a thumb load of power and a dab of oppo lock will be the way forward smile

I always thought understeer was the way - literally - forward

Sorry, but in this instance that will just make the understeer worse. The problem is lack of ackerman and front track is too narrow.

My Dad just bought an old mobility scooter to turn into a Roary Race car for my son, I experienced the understeer first hand at the weekend - still spent a good amount of time wetting myself at my dad attempting to do powerslides on the gravel drive hehe
