Another + for PIAA silicon.

They may be expensive, but they last ages (and I'm fussy - I usually change Bosch evry 4-6 months). And they save the money you'd spend on RainX otherwise.

by return service, and their cleaner spray is magic, the free screen wash was very good as well!

edited to say - pick their flat blade type.

Mine on the E39 were £3.99 from Tesco, they are wiper blades and they wipe the screen. Nothing more to say..
I bet they aren't made from organically grown fair trade rubber trees, which have been lovingly cultivated by attractive ladies in grass skirts with flowers in their hair.

I don't know how you can sleep at night

Why can't you just replace the rubber blade? That used to be possible, the holder itself lasts far longer than the blade.
I've just replaced one of mine today as the plastic clip had broken, the other will be replaced at the weekend. I've used Bosch from eurocarparts as they offer free delivery, the last ones were from lidl and not particularly good, but acceptable.
I've got aero ones on the 156 bought from eBay, one of them is ok the other (drivers side) isn't stiff enough and wobbles at the lower end, so I'd probably put bosch on when they need replacing.

I have always used Bosch super plus wiper blades from Halfords which seem OK, but they were getting tired on both cars, so ordered some from Autobulbs - ABD Retro-fit Aero blades, which are curved and are supposed to fit the screen much better (wraparound screen on the Saab never works with wiper blades very well).

Anyway, fitted the MX-5 blades yesterday and they are crap! It has a bog standard normal screen with no large radius curves, and a big patch of the passengers side sweep area is left unswept, and although the driver's side area is swept cleanly on the way up, it leaves a mess on the way down. So, I have gone from 2 year old Bosch wipers which were OK, to brand new fancy-pants ones which don't do the job at all!

Found an AutoExpress review of them saying that they leave areas unswept. How can they sell the things when they are clearly unfit for purpose?

Haven't tried the Saab ones yet but all 4 will be going straight back to autobulbs, what a complete waste of time...

What do other folks use?

Can you get into a Costco?

They do Goodyear Aero Blades for about £7 each. Fitted some to my MX5 and the wifes' Fiesta and I am very pleased with them. Don't think they do a 17 inch one though as I struggled to get one for my Dads' Focus.

Well, I've just ordered a set of PIAA wipers at a cost of 50 quid yikes but I've spent ages pissing about with Bosch, Tesco, Halfords etc. rubbish blades so am keen to find a set I can fit and forget.

Will report back.

Interested to note that PIAA also do 'sports horns'. I wonder what they're like? biggrin

I seem to remember a thread on here that said Rain-X donate to that hideous sensationalist anti-car charity, Brake?

Another vote for www.wiperblades.co.uk 's own branded flat wipers. Good price and they arrive quickly.

Had them on a Mondeo, 307 and 206 now, nothing comes close. Got these Bosch ones from Halfrauds for the 206 originally, 6 months later and they were starting to smear, line etc.

So I went back to Wiperblades own branded ones a wee while back, perfect. They have been really good this winter, down to -18 so far and no freezing up with some basic de-icing, whereas in lesser cold the bosch were freezing and missing bits etc.

You can save a few quid on flat ones by buying off ebay, but they will likely be awful - I made that mistake!

Tesco flat ones were not bad on my old Laguna as well, if you can get them when they are reduced, you are looking at under £10 for a set !

Just make sure you follow the instructions - in this weather I'd wash the windscreen first, then use the wipe provided. Then do run them dry for 5 minutes like it says.... it seems odd, but gives the intial rainx-alike coating to the glass.

I have fitted curved aero flat blades to five different cars and haven't had any problems with them not clearing the screen properly. Haven't heard any complaints from people I have recommended them to either.

I have never bought from autobulbs though. I usually buy them from whoever has them cheapest (less than a tenner a pair) on Ebay.
This, in my experience cheapo ebay ones seem to do the job perfectly well.

I buy OEM BMW wipers for my 730d, they're around £65 a pair. I can't help feeling slightly hosed by the stealer when I buy them but they do work incredibly well.

I ordered some of these last month for my mum, and they're actually really good. They cost almost half what my Bosch Aerotwin kit did and they work really well. The only downside I can see is that the plastic clip that secures the blade to the arm isn't quite as elegant as that of the Bosch. If you can live with that, they make a good buy.

The service from www.wiperblades.co.uk was excellent.
