No, No, Nano!

Aston Martin Cygnet eat your heart out...

The Nano Goldplus - it's for real!
The Nano Goldplus - it's for real!
And the 2010 PH award for most sartorially-suspect supermini goes to Aston Mart... No, wait, this late entry just in!

May we present a rendered preview of the Nano Goldplus from our friends at JLR's Indian owner, the Tata Group.

No, you won't get one free with every XKR or V8 Rangie as a cunning ruse to keep JLR's carbon footprint in check. In fact it's a special (needs?) edition created in Tata's domestic market by Titan Industries Ltd.

Why? Well apparently sales of the Tata Nano are sliding at home, from a peak of 9000 units in July to a paltry 509 in November. This is not, as PHers might reasonably surmise, because the world's cheapest car is totally cr*p. No (we're informed by the International Business Times), there's been a tendency for the Nano to catch fire which has 'dipped the initial enthusiasm' of people to invest.

AM Cygnet: Disappointed...
AM Cygnet: Disappointed...
This gold-plated version is supposed to stimulate new interest. On the plus side, it ought to be relatively fireproof...

And they own jaguar - Jeremy Clarkson's idea about the olympics being opened by some XKRs on fire may actually end up accurate!

I was reading up on this and apparently to keep costs down it has two DFS chairs in the front and a suttee for the wife in the back.

How dare you poke fun at my Nano Indian funeral pyre joke!

Good job I didn't mention Indira Ghandi in the Nano ashtray.

Anyone seen Sean Connery? I've got his raquet.

Out here there are a lot of 'art cars'. This would fit right in. In fact, I sort of like it in an odd way to tool around town, just for being so utterly over the top.

Luton is more Pakistani than Indian in it's ethnic minority.
