What a nightmare frown I don't understand the mentality of the people that do things like this. Fortunately never had it happen.. but can't imagine what my reaction would be frown

Right - got the tyre changed, that was caused by the pot hole I hit before. The tyre guy reckons its kinked the wheel slightly.

See pics below:

The pot hole is much worse in the flesh than the pictures suggest.

The tyre was 4 weeks old, and not repairable.

Do I have any hope in claiming from the council?

Yep - get in touch with your local highways dept. Father in law wrote off a tyre after hitting a pot-hole in the dark last winter. They forked out for a new Conti on his Saab.

Re the keying - scumbags, that's all. Gutted for you.

Mindless jealousy, such a shame.

I would be properly pissed off if someone did it to my scruffy MK2 Golf so cant imagine how you must feel to have it happen to such a nice Alpina.

I think you soon realise there is absolutely nothing you can do, the police genuinely dont seem interested.

Even if they see someone on CCTV, how hard would it be to identify them anyway.

I put it down to Jealous chavs having a laugh, they may have done other cars that night and not even thought twice about it today

That's because a) it's your problem and b) it was stationary. Had they clocked it at 34mph and identified the keeper or driver, their interest would peak and it would then be a) a detected crime, and b) a solved crime.

Not all the polices fault however, most of them are safely tied up in paperwork to stop them going out on the streets or doing any real crime fighting.

Chiswick BMW (Berry) have their own on-site bodyshop should you wish to have the work done by 'BMW'. I'm not aware of the quality of work Bodytec do but I beleive they are PAS125 approved so should be up to the job.

That's terrible OP, fkING scum bags!!

A similar thing happened to my uncle BMW E36 328 coupe, he returned back to the car after only couple of hours to find that someone has sprayed a thick silver line down the side of his blue car!

I would love to have caught them!! what fun could have been had!

Best of luck - happened to me last year.

When I got the FOI data through, it became clear that because they had inspected the road in the previous 12 months (from memory) and there was no reports of the hole I hit in this period then there was nothing I could do.

Read the website and request the info - but I don't hold out much hope for you on claiming against the council. They seem to have wised up to the fact people will try and claim now.

Sorry to hear about the car - someone did my door on my Merc last year. The dent was so deep, it was not a accidental heavy hands on the door, it looked like someone had opened their door into mine, and then kicked the inside of their door against my car as hard as they could. wkers.

Im genuinely shocked at how many people this has happened to, They need to make it a more severe crime than what it is at the moment

You hit the nail squarely on the head there. Policing by numbers.

(Plus of course, a nice easy speeding conviction brings in some dosh to the official coffers too.)

I doubt very much that they will ever be caught, and even if they do get caught - a slap on the wrist for £3-£4ks worth of damage?

If the bodyshop is the one I think it is (my sister's MX5 was repainted there) it appears that it's some kind of RNIB job creation scheme. Is your insurer Admiral or one of the associated companies? The MX5 paintwork was visible a mile off and I'm not normally very good at picking up on that kind of thing.

Yes, the insurance company is Admiral.

Gulp - shall I pull it?
