Doubt the car had anything to do with it, an Alpina looks very much like a Beemer to 95% of people- and the 5% who do know what it is are unlikely to be the sort of people who do this. Besides, Chiswick has Rangies and Porkers aplenty so doubt the motor was the factor.

Being a residential area, it looks like you've annoyed some twunt by parking in 'their' spot or in some way which has been perceived to be out of order is my guess. Although, Chiswick does have its chav element too, so could be wanton vandalism too.

Report it to the Police ASAP, just incase there is a CCTV system.

This ^^^^^^^^^^^^

You should claim on your insurance, after all this is what you're insuring against, not just crashes.

where I parked was next to a building - no houses or anything, its at the top of the road where it meets the main road.

Its beyond me, but hopefully its just a random act of vandalism

Then it was some random s who deserve to have their balls cut off, lightly salted and fed back to them.

I was going to suggest they should have their hands chopped off, but I think that's a much better idea.

Oh, and insurance job for a full respray by the sound of it.

Feck lightly salting them, throw as much salt on as poss', make them super thirsty and then offer their own urine as a thirst quencher!

Really hope this gets sorted as quickly and as painlessly as possible OP!

Not always the reason you might think.

A senior university lecturer was caught in the act of keying a car...

Because he had to walk round it on his way home from work.

He did it several times before the owner set up a camera in his office window.

I guess he was an ecofreak...he lived in a hippy/green/Liberal area.

Similar thing happened to me years ago. My car was keyed on most panels by a 50y/o woman. She thought I parked in "her" spot. But it was just a street and she had a driveway at her house. Anyways my friend who was her neighbour spotted her. Cops did nothing. But I have the car still. Will be changing next year and the car I have is going to be put in the exact same place with full tax and insurance. She can scratch it everyday for a year then the cow.

Why do you want her to do that? Odd.

hate to hear about st like this because I've had it happen to me once (many moons ago to my old Cavalier) and I know the sinking feeling you get when it happens - I can;t imagine any reason that would prompt someone to to such mindless acts but it sounds like someone really had a beef with you or your car - a drunken "drive-by" scratching is one thing, but to go around and do the entire car is just malicious.

Happens all the time, especially in low-income areas. Family members of mine who work in Bradford don't dare take their car with them after the amount of scratches they get. All the way from the front panel to the rear on a month old Audi A4 someone bought recently.

Slashing of the tires is something a bit further - sounds almost like a personal grudge.

Assuming that you don't live in the area, at least you can be fairly sure it isn't a personal grudge that's caused it.

Nothing worse then when this sort of thing happens at or very near home and you are left wondering if somebody has an issue with you that you're unaware of.

I assume he means the old car, which she originally keyed for parking in 'her' spot.

That should piss her right off - to make it worse, paint it some horrid bright garish colour, maybe with spots etc and park it there.

I know, I actually did think about taking the 993 out tonight, but the battery is flat.

I live about 10 miles away, so I doubt its personal, I havent been to Chiswick for over a month.

Also - who are the insurers likely to use to respray the car?

I am pretty particular about the car - only wash it myself, it would have to be a top job

I think they will have their approved repairers, but you should be able to take it to a place of your choice.

They'll want you to use an approved body shop (one they have a deal with), but you can insist on using somewhere else of your choice.

I'd get 3 quotes from places you are happy with and submit them to your insurer. This shows you are being reasonable, though of course they may nominate a decent enough place themselves.

Mind you, depending on the cost of a full respray vs value of car, may even sneak in as cat d. Depends on how bad the scratches are I guess as to whether it needs full respray.

As above, try an argue your point that you want it done by the right person and they might give in.

And sorry about what happened, there is some serious jealous scumbags in this world!
