I'm beginning to really wonder if there is something in the Westminster water that erodes MP's brain cells cos this idea just has to be the loopiest I've come across so far.

Just reading the headline I instantly knew it came from a Labour nut job, what a daft idea.

WTF is this obsession with speed? is it really that much of a problem? or do these idiots think that no one will die if we all obey the limit?

FWIW I've spent most of my life driving and very, very seldom does a car driven at high speed become noticeable, tailgaters, MLMs, truckers and lane changers however

This is of course just an attempt to set the stage for levying extra road tax on anyone with points on their license. The 'discount' given to drivers without points will just bring the tax to what it otherwise would have been.

I have to hand it to him, politicians are pretty inventive when it comes to new ways to 'nickel and dime' the public and making it seem like they are doing them a favour ... Scum, the lot of them.

What's more annoying is that the original idea was trialled on a downtown street where more people die in vehicle/ pedestrian collisions. Labours idea is to use it where there are no pedestrians on nice safe motorways with average speed cameras in place.

Labour, ideologically speaking, despise the car (as it is the clearest symbol of personal freedom and individual wealth).

So they want to do everything possible to put rules and restricitions around driving - to squeeze the freedom element out of it. And everything possible to tax the hell out of it (to remove any remaining wealth the car owner (how DARE he own a car) may have...

Rewarding people for obeying the law? How odd. If I manage to get through 2011 without raping and murdering anyone, can I have a new car?

Average speed cameras everywhere then, how much is that going to cost, and where is the money to pay the "good" drivers coming from?

Has the stupid not been watching the news over the past couple of years?

Labour plant a money tree orchard when they get in to power - hopefully never again.

It reminds me of the old Soviet Union.

People that win points (and points mean prizes of course) will be made " A Hero of the Motoring Revolution" and entitled to an extra bag of potatoes per month once they retire when they're 85.
