If you own a Healey Sprite or MG Midget from 1963 to 1972 please make sure you lock it up properly because this ringing kit......

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&am...

....is now available on eBay.

Classics are popular with car thieves these days because of the advances in modern security systems, their breaking value and how easilly the identity can be changed. Dispite the questionable nature (legality) of this item eBay will not be removing the listing. So if your car gets nicked and JUE 454D is back on the road weeks later you know who to ask the Police to visit.

I'm surprised eBay wouldn't remove it. Have you reported it?

Bend their own rules in order to make some money from the sale? That doesn't sound like eBay at all.

Hold on a sec...

I've reported it as well. They even have it in the drop down menus for reporting listings. I can see no legal use for this item and possibly the dvla should be informed.

That has to have been written by a 3 year old.

Make sure you report the link yourselves when you click on it.

Shall we all spam it?

You'd think the Police would monitor eBay and other sites to pick up on this sort of thing.

Either a Heritage shell (kit car) build or stolen car will end up with this cars identity. In the case of ringing wouldn't the seller be an accessory?

Not to mention the DVLA (Ah-hem) who's continuous registrations department would be very interested in a scraped cars identity being sold on.

That should get removed ok.

You can't sell reg docs without a vehicle.

Damage has probably been done though.

"scrapcarsandy"

Sandy is in Bedfordshire last time I checked. Could explain "covantry" eh?

Either that or it's the persons name, but then "I have a m8 who runs a scrap yard" doesn't fit does it?

Just rang alarm bells.

If you know anyone who owns a 1275 Midget or Sprite give them a heads up.

You'll have to report all the other V5 docs with number plates on there as well then.
Not everyone buys them for ileagal purposes. yes

My mate bought one fir an Austin 1100 as it was quicker then trying to find put the original number without any ID on the car. I bought a V5 for an Aprilia bike because I built it from spares and didn't have any docs.

Ok, maybe not totally legal but not depriving anyone of their hard earned pride and joy either.

Besides. If you were a thief would you really bother with stealing such a conspicuous car, even to sell? These sorts of cars get stolen to order and shipped and or stripped so a V5 is pointless. It's hardly going to be an epidemic because you can buy V5's on EBay, they've been selling them for years so your all too late.

I'd suggest making sure you own property is secure over the holiday period. smile
