A guy I used to work for tried to order a 1.8t A3 when they first came out in that bright/light metallic green with a red checked interior. It was a business lease and when he faxed the order through (remember this was the 90s) they called him and asked if it was a mistake. When he said no they replied "don't be so ridiculous, we're not ordering that. We need to sell this car once you return it".
He ended up with one in that nice metallic blue with black leather.

I smell BS, Audi have never offered a red check interior on an A3, even with the exclusive options, red leather maybe, but not red check. He ended up with one in that nice metallic blue with black leather.
