Noticed an advert for the latest Astra estate (sorry, Sport tourer) in the paper earlier and nearly fell off my chair when I saw the price, now dont laugh but for a 1.3 diesel Astra estate they want (and I kid you not) £21,500 rofl

I hate to point out the obvious, but new cars are expensive! wink

It's not just Vauxhall that are doing it, look how much like-for-like models have gone up in the last model-cycle. It's crazy...!

Have you seen the thread about speccing up not-that-nice cars?

They're all at it.

It's only so they can offer you huge discount and still get what they wanted in the first place. I think its called marketing.

New model, pre-discount price. A lure for the non-negotiators who don't ask for a 30% discount.

They are not bringing the "new" shape VXR out for several months yet.

It's still not great VFM though is it, as it's now an "old" model, and being a Vauxhall will depreciate faster than I can count to 3

And so they damn well should. They have been less than generous in the past with known faults caused by poor design costing £000's to fix and Vauxhall only paying a proportion if really pushed. (As evidenced on the Vectra C and Signum forum)

Massive warranty? Really? 100k. Not exactly a lifetime is it? Maybe that's all they expect their rubbish cars to last?

Isn't the 100K warranty only while owned by 1st owner?

ETA fron Carsuk.net:
The Vauxhll Lifetime Warranty will apply to the first owner of a Vauxhall registered from 1st August 2010. Vauxhall has defined ‘Lifetime’ as 100,000 miles but don’t appear to have put a time limit on. So theoretically you could go out and buy a new Vauxhall, do 3,000 miles a year and have a 33 year warranty.

The warranty covers all powertrain, steering system, brake system and electrical equipment. You need to have an annual inspection and you’ll have to adhere to servicing schedules to keep the warranty valid. Vauxhall are also planning a programme to allow subsequent owners access to the Lifetime Warranty.

I think so. Also there is some confusion over what is considered (by VX) to be fair wear and tear.
