What a load of old pony.

More like they're realising that unleaded will be £1.30 in most places by Wednesday with other fuels beyond this so are trying to issue some crappy platitude to "off-set" it.

It's good news. Flats were allocated, if I remember correctly from a conversation with an architect friend, 0.8 of a space. Bonkers.

Total horlicks if they want to end the "war on motorists" they would stop
the charging of vat ON TOP OF fuel duty tax on a tax (which i thought was illegal?)

Or scrap the useless VED and absorb it to general taxation seeing as thats what its
used for anyhow. and the disks are useless as an officer has only to enquire
on the pnc to check the motors status. making the disk redundant and a waste
of paper so they could dress it up as a green initiative.

I'm sure it's jolly good news, whatever it is.

Could someone please point to the substance? I'm probably being a little, 'New Year' slow here.

A bit like the Americans ended the war on Japan after Hiroshima and Nagasaki...

A genius idea. They all gave up their cars, ate lentils, and became happy.

Or not.

Not really bonkers- probably less than 80% of residents have cars, and if you need an apartment with a parking space then you should buy one with a space. Simple.

The point being that for nearly 10 years they weren't building them with spaces, so even if you wanted one you couldn't get it.

I always understood one could not be charged tax twice for the same item

however with fuel it's billed as fuel + duty = sub tot + vat so you are paying
vat on the 80ish % tax how the cheese hat can that be in any way fair or legal?

VAT was a temporary luxury tax (ye right) in what way mr f-in chancellor is
fuel duty a LUXURY.

They must either merge the two or remove one ( like thats going to happen )

Happens all the time. Why would someone think it's illegal?

Just in case anyone was daft enough to think that the end of New Labour would be the end of "spin"; why is this being announced today?

VAT going up tomorrow?

So we'll be happy with less parking spaces at new builds and an email sent to councils suggesting they might light to reduce one of their primary income sources.

What's not to like?

Like how I get taxed on my earnings, then anything left gets taxed when I spend it, or the interest on my savings gets taxed when I save out of the money I have earned which has already been taxed??

This is a drop in the ocean. I don't really see there as being a 'war' on motorists anyway. Driving is an expensive business.
