Interestingly different approach to offering a car for sale. No Eastern European car washers in his locality perhaps.

"I need a new car. This one appears to be dirty."

Very strange indeed. I wouldn't go near it, on the basis that if he can't even be arsed to wash it, what else can't he be arsed to do or not do with it.

Wouldn't expect a car that new to be up for sale privately. Price seems a bit cheap. Nice car though

I bought a new microwave a couple of months ago, simply because the old one was a mess inside and I couldn't be arsed to clean it.

But a car?!?

Oddly enough he's also selling a Land Rover 110 which is absolutely spotlessly clean.

Needs to be seen - maybe it's scruffy, maybe it isn't. Either way, in need of a wash before any money swaps hands.

Perhaps he's got the two mixed up and has been off roading in the Citroen? Now selling it beacause its not as good as it said it was in the LR magazine?

My neighbour has just sold a four grand mountain bike which was filthy , the guy that came to buy it complained about the dirt. My neighbour offered him the use of his hose pipe biggrin

£4k for an unloved mountain bike? He must have been mad!

Most keen bikers would wash their bikes down after use, especially if selling...

This probably isn't the case here but if there's outstanding finance on the car and the seller keeps the money and goes back to Poland (for example) the finance company will try to recover the car from whoever it has been sold to. Never a good thing. frown

To me that speaks volumes about the way it’s been treated for the first part of its life. If I were looking for one of these (I'm not. I would rather eat my own st) then I would rather buy a cherished example than one that appears to have been neglected.

Do some of you guys really consider a car being dirty in the kind of weather we've had recently as a sign of neglect?! In the middle of summer perhaps, but my car was dirtier than that within 3 days / 100 miles following a wash during the recent snow etc but that doesn't mean it's not very well maintained. That being said if I was selling any car I'd certainly point it towards the local garage forecourt and get the pressure washer on the case before taking a photo.

Obvious scam. Won't be his car, will just have taken pic of a car at side of road.

Doubt it - too much detail, both cars pictures taken in same place, not cheap enough for a scam.

Maybe, but something is very dodgy.

Maybe cat c, clocked after 40k, rtc, or something.
You'd have to be really stupid to buy from this guy, and even more stupid if this was legit to sell a 11k car like this.

I think that's a bit over the top. If I had £11k and wanted a DS3 I would certainly go and look it and run a HPI check etc, just because the advert/ picture is st it doesn't immediately mean its a scam or dodgy car.
