If every shop put the price of beans on a big sign outside, and tesco were 5p more, would this thread exist?

Nothing sharp about it - they can charge whatever they want. If punters want to make groundless guesses, that's up to them.

On a 50 litre tank you are going to save approximately a whopping £1.75. I'd rather poke my eyes out with a blunt cork screw rather than queue for ever in Tesco to save that.
A lot of it is convenience, my wife shops at Tesco as there is no Asdas that is near and she can pay for her diesel with a CC without it funding any fat Nigerian bds.
I reckon better off with Shell Drivers Club? - i get £4 off with 25 litres - every quarter -at least that is worth using
Trouble is Tesco gives me better MPG it seems
Tesco have got to top because gormless british public think it is cheapest full stop.
It isn't -ASDA is.

I use Tesco purely because it is where I tend to shop, not much difference between most of them!

I find that these days TESCO are the first to increase their prices for fuel round here, and usually the last to reduce them.

The supermarket is massively more expensive than ASDA/Morrisons for the weekly shop as well.
But Asda is always full of scum and Morrisons is just ste.

Tesco used to do free air and water round here. Then a year ago they started charging 20p. It's just gone up to £1.00!

Haha. Think its just 20p for air, and its an extra £1 if you want to have screenwash aswell!

I found that Tesco is cheaper around here unless its a Tesco Extra which is actually Esso in disguise!!! It pee'd me off when I found out that out when I was refused points for my "tesco" fuel because it was actually an Esso pump!

Her at New Oscott the local Tesco petrol station seems to be playing "3p off what ever the very expensive ethn...err BP station across the road charges"

Even with the usual vouchers thing I rather pay less at Asda

Asda today £1.20.9

Beats wheatever Tesco do everytime

I suppose I should have filled the Midget tonight before the increase..

Nah I would rather spend a pensive hour or two browsing PH

I had a 5p off per litre OFF voucher so decided to fill tank to max to get full benefit- it was an Esso -so luckily i went in an asked BEFORE filling -just aswell as voucher was expiring that day and i then made way for a Tesco store petrol station

It's 1 point per litre - but they do promtions -such as double or extra points.Depends how much you put in every quarter - i reckon i do about £150-£200 - but i put fuel from Shell because it is cheapest where i am -so might aswell benefit from the £4 off

Tesco in Huntingdon Cambs has been the most expensive for ages, then a BP took a Texaco garage just before crimbo & became the most expensive......
Tesco is next expensive and the food shopping is more than anywhere else local and the choice is st, it's cheaper to travel to a Morrisons 9 miles away for food and fuel....

Real shame there are no Asda petrol stations near me, almost always been cheaper when I've driven north and passed one, no noticeable drop in fuel economy either.

Used to fill up at Tesco most of the time, however usually go with Shell now that I pass a reasonably priced one every day. I've found that Tesco's 5p off per litre is a decent promo but only really saves about £2-3 for the whole tank.

If shopping isn't £50 then we usually just buy a phone voucher to top it up and they eventually get used up- however they often aren't the cheapest when the promo is running meaning the saving is actually diminished.
