i'm getting through 50 quid a week in the m3, give or take a tenner unless i take it out for a proper blast. everything else on it is actually pretty reasonable, it's been much better on running costs than i'd thought it would be.

I spend most on insurance, then fuel I'd imagine.
yes

Maintenance costs me less than insurance and I'm guessing fuel does too. I could buy another car with the money I'm paying for insurance.
What do you two do, give lifts to premiership footballers but push them everywhere?

Even with three cars that cannot reach the 10 mpg barrier in town, I spend more by far on depreciation and running costs.

a have a 580 mile round trip to make every weekend to work every weekend now for the next 9 weeks so most definitely mine is fuel so im guessing around 2 tanks a week by the time i account for weekly mileage at around £80 per fill. But then im now old so my insurance is peanuts and the car cost me next to nothing, and will probably appreciate still lol

I only do about 3500 miles a year, and I have had to spend a fair bit (and will need to spend more) on maintenance, insurance, VED etc recently frown I have been thinking about having a go at bangernomics sometime soon though smile

Following on from this...

Value of car = 3 tanks of fuel
Years tax disc = 1/2 value of car
Years insurance = 14 times the value of the car eek

Guess where my vote went grumpy

This thread has depressed me greatly. I've never worked out the ppm before.

I'm off to get a high paid job so I can afford to drive to it.

a more sickening thought,

You work out your total motoring expenditure,

Fuel
Road Tax
Car cost (new)
Company car Taxation

then work out the amount your handing over to the government, on top of what you pay already, thats a sobering thought

Two or three years ago it would have been depreciation, but now both of my cars are at or near the bottom of the depreciation curve, so it's now running costs.

For my daily driver, it now costs me more for petrol per year than the car is worth.

Per year, fuel is my biggest expenditure. The Alfa will be costing about 2k a year in fuel at the current rate, and it isn't my daily! Insurance came in at 1600, repairs so far 500. 90p a mile at the moment, which puts into perspective just how expensive motoring is.

Fuel Tax.

Though I don't know if the TVR is depreciating much, the Passat has depreciated by about 70% I suspect, I must confess it isn't really something I track nor worry about until the time comes to sell...

Insurance by some margin (thats 2 cars and 1 bike though).

All vehicles don't have much depreciation left to do hopefully. Best way to play it IMO. The hoon mobiles aren't very thirsty either.

Fuel I use for work is paid for. Thank fk I don't pay for that!
