A48(M) I think still counts ?

Its the 9 miles or so of motorway to the old severn bridge, the new bridge carries all the traffic allowing plenty of opportunities to reach beyond 1.5 leptons clapwobble

The M40 is normally prtty good given the fair amount of traffic it recieves. Always seems to flow well. Relatively little roadworks on it too (which is probably why it is more free flowing).
Agree, down to the M4 anyway, def the best of the 'major' midlands motorways, ingnoring the fun M45/M69 ones

Out of all the motorways I drive around london (my experience is at weekends mainly):

M3: Average speed of lane 3 75-80, people unwilling to change lanes. Lane 1 normally empty. Pretty painful to drive it.
M25: Awful. 5 Lanes in places and people only use the outside two.
M11: Fantastic, even if people are sitting in lane 3 they use their mirrors and pull over for faster traffic. Flows excellently even in the two lane section towards the end. I managed to maintain a buttock clinching rate of progress up it last weekend biggrin

M6, north of Lancaster has always been good when I've been on it.

Nice scenery, hardly any MLM and people seem very courteous.
That's because no one is on that stretch of motorway!

Motorways just get worse when there are more people on them. Who'd have thought, busier motorway, greater chance of bad drivers....

Any stretch of motorway near a busy area is awful to drive in my experience, once you're out of the way of the busy area there aren't any where near as many people in a rush and driving inconsiderately to get where they need to go as fast as possible.

Not strictly true. Originally it was delimited, but following local government consultation in early 2005 the maximum permitted speed was reduced to 150mph (although V8's are exempt)

June 2005 is not "early 2005".

Driving into Hull on the 62. No one ever visits - only leaves - so the east bound carriageway looks like this.

Whilst the westbound looks like this:

Hilarious.

Really.
