A friend of mine has just had his RX7 13B turbo go pop and asked me if I would fit a N/A 13B as a replacement.

The only rotary engines I have worked on are Briggs and Stratons. Can the turbo bits be fitted to an N/A engine or will there be compression issues?

Anyone? rolleyes

Would a supercharger suit a rotary engine?

I going to say there will be compression problems, based on turbo conversions of NA engines being non-existent as far as I know.

a n/a rotory will accept low boost but if you get bored and decide you can get away with a little more, then a little more it'll go kablammo unless you back off the timing. So, it can be done in moderation (both s/c methods).

Perhaps someone has blarted on his feet. It'd fit the thread title.

hehe

and I mean no offence, it's an attempt at (poorly and with much less comedic value) imitating one of the greatest PH one liners of all time.

I'd be woeful too if so one wankled on me..

EDIT: Especially if it was turbo charged

What I say that was so 'tard-ish?
edit to say:
Jesus Hosea Christ an f'n typo...are there no other members guilty of the occasional mistake?

maybe a typo, just backing my fellow rotor heads.

There are tuning companies out there who do both turbo charging and supercharging.

The turbo option is more complex but ultimately it can produce more power than the supercharger.

The supercharging option produces slightly less power but is better suited to the Rx8 13B in terms of ease of set up.

A Rx7 turbo will not integrate into a Rx8 13B without considerable work as the exhaust port setup is different. The exhaust manifold on the rx8 uses 3 ports, 1 dedicated to each rotor and a shared port. I spent almost a day staring at this when changing my OEM manifold over for a racing one as the RHS engine mount goes between two of the exhaust manifold pipes and therefore has to be removed first.
