My old Porsche 924S had wipers set up for LHD, i.e. the unswept area usually at the top left was instead at the top right.

Looking at a Discovery 3 today, I noticed that the rear window is significantly lower on the right hand side (looking at it from behind), whereas on a LHD version having the window lower at the right would be genuinely useful when reversing and looking over your shoulder.

Now this may be a contender for 2011's most boring thread, but can anyone think of any other examples?

Most obvious would be the indicator stalk being on the wrong side of the steering wheel. Drive a jap import and you can indicate and change gear at the same time as its on the right hand side of the wheel.

If you move a euro cars steering wheel to LHD the indicator stalk ends up on the left hand side leaving your right hand to change gear.

Minor issue, handbrake located on the wrong side of the tunnel for RHD, correct for LHD

A lot of peugeots in the 90's had massive compromises put on them for RHD market. 106 didn't have powersteering because they couldn't fit it in, until the later models.

Why would you want to do this? That just seems wrong.

After having an e46 BMW where the dash curves around the driver I found looking for my next car quite frustrating as it was noticeable that the centre console on quite a few cars actually faced away from the driver, biased slightly to the left, especially in a seat leon I test drove! I ended up with another BMW, e91 the dash faces centrally, a real shame!

Aw, I came in to whine about this. It feels like such a luxury when the stalk is on the correct side now.

It never annoyed me but it could be a bit of a git though swapping from a C-Class that had wipers and lights on one stalk on the left and then into the MX5

The wipers on my old Clio were arse about face come to think of it.

Er, AllNines, why would you *not* want the *option* of changing gear while indicating?

i think he means the indicator is on the right and the gear change is too the left ? certainly is on my imported lucida so you can indicate with the right hand still keeping it on the wheel and change with tother hand ? likew when changing down for a corner that's come up a bit sudden liek when following satnav instructions laugh

You used to be able to tell cars designed as LHD cos the fuel tanks where on the right (opposit side to the driver) to aid weight distribution, nowdays they all tend to be in the middle ?
