This could have been what I followed on the M40 earlier.

Those output figures aren't far off what the 2.7 D had on launch so should move it about OK. I've read they've managed to shed some weight too.

Do they have the nuts to put the same engine in the XJ? There are four cylinders in the S-Class these days...

From what I can see of the headlight shape, it looks like they might have fixed the only bit of the ZF's styling that I didn't like.
I'm with you on that one.

Recent Jags have been confusing. Take the XF - great looking from the sides and rear, looks ugly & bug-eyed from the front. Or the XJ - great looking from the front but with a rear the size of J-Lo's arse (both however have nice interiors).

Now Jag finally looks to have fixed the XF with a new front - but agree with other posters that the performance is not up there with a 520d. All they need to do now is pension off the XK antique and they will have one of the best ranges out there.

Swoxy - the table you posted - I'm guessing that the equipment tally is for the run-out old lethargic old A6 - not the new one which looks almost the same?

I didn't know that. Perfect for posh cab firms I suppose.

Yeah that would be the S250 CDI, with its 2.1 twin turbo diesel. But in fairness with 200bhp its not far of the power you'd get from an older 6-cylinder derv.

It should have had this engine in it form the start to steal company car sales from the 520d and A6 2.0 TDI yes

It's figures are similar to them, too ...

Agreed, you really do pay for that economy in the BMW.

When my step father ordered a 320d M Sport and XF was an option but was too expensive in terms of tax.

I`m surprised it hasn't been realised yet tbh.

The XF seems to come out on top of most of its tests too

SOunds like they have been raiding the Landrover parts bin as the 2.2 derv is out of the Freelander2 and the 8 speed auto is used in the new range rover

We had one of these in the office car park early last week.. was so obvious it was an XF even with the camo..

Would much rather see more jags on the road than the gerrys..

The eight speed is a new ZF box that they buy in from ZF. The BMW 5 series and several other vehicles already have it. It's not as if Jaguar invented it.

That's a bargain basement price - not far off the price of a decently equipped 320d.

However, the emissions are still very high compared with both the 320d and 520d - even in standard, rather than 320ED form.

I am aware that ZF supplies transmissions to other brands but unless you are familiar with the jlr group like myself you will note that thats all that seems to happen when either relases another vehicle. Its just a collection of parts that are already in use through out the group. Would be nice to see something unique on the XF

I think this is a good move, If you are bothered about BIK then you really had no choice other than Audi and BMW up until now.

Sounds fantastic, I've been mulling over a second had XF for months, this could well be the first brand new car I ever buy provided the boggo spec at 30k isn't too poverty!

It's 20g higher than the Bimmermobile so not very high, in fact the same as the A6.
Personally it is a sad day when Jag chase the low spec rep market, especially when they were outselling the german competition without. So we end up the same as the A6 & 520d slug slow execs biggrin

Pooh! Why don't they drop in the diesel V8 from the Land Rover range. A proper diesel for an exec car. Have you heard the racket this four pot makes on tickover from cold. That's how it all leaves me. Yuck!
