And my first thought was that it looked as if an A3 had brutally raped a Fiat 500 and then some philanphropic soul had forked out 13k to adopt the resulting unwanted child. God it's ugly!
You've only seen 1? I'm really confused because I'd estimate I've seen over 100 now...

Good why just a little bit ? wink

Not so much because it's an R8 wheel more of a comfort touch, really nice feel to it. Ridiculously expensive for a steering wheel though !
I think it's because I dislike it when marketing people design cars (which that feature suggests) - it stifles creativity and ingenuity.

It might be a factor of not living anywhere near a large city - let alone a "trendy" one.

Just another blob on the roads.

Doesn't look that bad.

Not just in London! Maybe in general it's just more popular in the South.

The A1 is trim, colour, engine & alloy wheel sensitive IMO...

A boggo, white, 1.2 with piddly wheels looks gash, where as a fully spec'd S-Line, in black with the 1.4 TSi and larger wheels is a much better prospect...but then it's still way too expensive and appeals to people that have matured from having a Mini.

I think the SEAT Ibiza SC is the much better car. It's better looking, cheaper, faster (if you go for FR/Cupra), cheaper servicing and much less pretentious. The A1 has 4-rings big whoop. Oh, and before anyone says the Audi will have a higher retained value, just wait 'till eveyone has one and then see where they are!

I was reading about these yesterday, they still use the old torsion beam rear suspension, how vintage!
Which superminis don't? Apart from the MINI, I can't think of any.

The A1 does what it sets out to do very well, and as such its a popular car with long waiting lists and no discounts available of list.

On balance, I'd rather have a MINI than an A1 if I was in the market for such a car.

Oh, I don't really like the MINI.

I saw one for the first time in the metal last week. I thought it had been subject to a poor roof chop at first. But then I pulled along side it and past and realised someone had designed it that way. Clearly the designer either didn't care that it looked like a hideous mess, or knew very well his target market, i.e. it would have still sold if it looked like a car crash as long as it was available in white or black, with 4 rings on the front ...

You do realise that in 1.4TSI spec with a few essential options like mats, climate, heated door mirrors you heading north of £22K

In fact a similarly speced A1 (£26K with discount) is more than a Focus RS (£25k with discount)Lux 1.

I know some of you may say that comparison is un-fair but it just shows you how much more car you can get for money with the focus.

I've had one for a week whilst my A4 has been in the dealer for some work. It's the TFI S Line 1.4 6 speed with plenty of toys - full media pack, BOSE, leather, 17" alloys, park sensors, R8 wheel, stop start etc. I really like it. If I were in the market for such a car I'd have one over the Mini any day of the week. It drives like a proper car, not a bouncy trolly and it handles the city, motorway and bendy bits all with aplomb given what it is. It has even swollowed 2 kiddy seats and a doubly buggy which astonished me.

It's beautifully finished as well - a lovely place to spend time in. When you're driving it, you don't notice that it looks a bit girly.

What is going on with PH these days?

Here we have someone who would sacrifice ride and handling for boot space, and in other threads we've got people whingeing about the quality of interior plastics and such!
