Basically I may have an opportunity in buying back my old car which I sold almost 5 years ago.
The car in question is an S1 Elise & I sold it purely because of the amount of miles I was racking up & wanted to sell it whilst it was still worth decent money. I sold it with approx 67k on the clock & the guy who bought it from me has only done approx 10k in that time & has has changed a few things on the car for the better. I am not sure how much he wants for it yet, but he always promised me first refusal. The car is immaculate & I do miss it but would what would you do?

A bit like having a go on an ex for me, as much as you might miss it I'm not sure I'd like knowing someone else had given it a thrashing in the meantime.

Well at least you'll know that at least one of previous owners wasn't a complete bellend and abused it.

If it's what you're after then why not. You'll be aware or any eccentricities that it may have abd whether or not it was reliable.

If it was me I'd have it back in a heartbeat.

definitely. I have improved every car Ive owned and usually taken them back (visually) to full original spec so would have any of them back in a heart beat if the money was right..and the obvious proviso that it had not been abused/crashed/written off in the meantime!..

having said that have seen a few of my ex steers advertised on PH, but haven't been sufficiently keen to buy one back yet..

Cheers for the replies so far guys. I am waiting to hear how much he wants for it. That could be the only concern.

Yeah, did that once. Mrs H67s Almera GTi ~ owned for 6 years from almost new. 2 years after I sold it, it came into work as a px. Mrs H67 jumped at the chance of having it back and had another 2 years out of it.

It's really no different to buying a car for the first time with a few owners on it. It's actually better to have owned it before.

It would be strange though.

I'd buy my first car back (1.5 Nissan Almera biglaugh) just because it was my first car - the new owner probably fixed the problems I traded it in with

I'd buy back my first car because I know the current owner, however anything in between is a no-no. Who knows what they've done to it and how they've treated it. I don't like used cars, and for that reason, I'm out.

My x reg 106 is still driving around.

I'd do anything to have back my 2008 v6 vectra Diesel.

Good point to make. I did sell it due to it being my only car & the amount of miles I was doing.
If I were to buy it back, it would be my only car again & I would have to use the mountain bike alot more.

Only if it was either extremely cheap for memories or extremely rare..

Probably not, I got rid of it for a reason so I generally wouldn't want it back.
Plus there are plenty of other cars out there to choose from.

I found my old ST170 up for a sale a while back and wanted to buy it again, but I didn't know where it had been since I got rid of it and would be pissed off if it started costing me lots.

It sounds like your old Elise has been cared for by someone who respects cars so it could be worth going back.

yes He has kept in touch since buying it & also informed me of any repaires/mods.

I asked him to give me first refusal which he has done, so no concerns over the condition etc it's just wether or not & I can afford another one.
