Factory tints - UV protection or just cosmetic?
Discussion
I've got a Ford ST220 and like most "modern" cars, it's got factory spec tinted windows (probably 20% ish) but there's no stats on UV protection.
Does anyone know if the factory tints offer any UV protection? I'm just wondering if it's worth getting an additional film tint applied which will give me UV protection.
Cheers, David

I would hope so....
Standard glass (which is tinted anyway, just at a very low level) has UV filtration in it, otherwise you'd get sunburn whilst driving your car
Still unsure?, then ask an optician if transition lenses work in a car - The answer - No, why? because of the UV filtration in the glass, and they rely on UV light to work

According to wikipedia:
UVB is 315 to 280nm and normal glass blocks 90% of light below 300nm.
