Drivers side Xenon intermittent fault
Discussion
Hi advice please (dr G?)
Over the last year esp if car has been cleaned or it rains a lot my drivers side xenon cuts out and bulb failure comes on. A fiddle with the headlight control seems to reset and the bulb is fine again. Had it briefly checked by local specialist who couldn't find anything wrong the day it was serviced but this intermittent problem has stayed and of course is more irritating in winter due to darker hours.... Any ideas for a simple fix or do I need to take to Audi stealer for full diagnostic investigations and loss of £££££££

Expect £udi to do the following:-
A) Fault code the Xenon controller / level test
B) Change the bulb
C) Change the ballast
D) Change the igniter (if possible as they're sometimes sealed into the housing)
E) Change entire headlight if D is not possible
Then finally....
F) Lots of head scratching and prodding of wires etc
Neither E or F will be cheap.
Or you can try F yourself since it's wet weather related, which suggests a bad seal on one of the plugs perhaps?

Any outcome here? Have a 2011 Q7 with Xenons, and it seems moisture ingress has damaged the headlamp controller and the wiring. First option is to try changing the headlamp controller, and if that works keep fingers crossed. Replacing the wiring and the controller is obviously more expensive and the last option of changing the headlamp is a little eye-watering.
Anyone know the cause of condensation/water ingress on the Q7 Xenon?
