If I recall correctly, this was the first engine to explode and he lost it on his own oil?
that's a serious amount of damage for a 50mph hit.....engine ripped out????? I have some experience of this type of accident albeit not in a Porsche (Ph2 V6 Clio) where I've been off at 50mph and over a 6" kerb and all it did was tuck a wheel ripping the rear offside suspension leg and turret out in the process.....they still wrote it off mind

From memory, there was certainly a strong rumour that Porsche bought the car back from him so that he didn't have to lose out by claiming on his insurance as the accident was rumoured to be linked to a major engine issue.
the accident may well have been caused by said engine failure but I can't believe this happened at 50 mph

How do you know it's the same car? Are the Chassis and Engine numbers listed for EA07 VMC?

My friend owned the above orange car and used it on the ring for two faultless years, he bought it after it was repaired.

Anyone got a link, can't seem to find it, thanks

Wow, another internet moron who knows all about something even though he has zero knowledge.

Did you consider that another car could have done the damage? e.g. Side rear impact which ripped the engine out.

Why did the car suddenly spin at 50mph without warning? From memory, this was never explained at the time.
