996 GT3 FS

I'm in no way suggesting that the values should be comparable (before I am lampooned) but there are actually several 964RS' for sale at the moment in comparison to the 1 (overpriced) 996 GT3.......

No mate its one of the rarest RS's. Just 140 RHD ever made of a total of 683 cars Globally which includes cars kept by the factory.

It has a carbon bonnet and wing and a lexan screen, different pick ups on the suspension. But that's about your lot. Engine - the same, wheels and brakes - the same (Painted a different colour.) Rack, box, - the same. The body is just about identical (Not completely ) but its less "different" to the vanilla GT3 than the 3.8 RS Gen 2 is for example.

The fact is its very much the same car as the regular GT3. 140 RHD Cars is almost exactly the same number as the 997 RS of each generation too.

Its been talked up constantly for a fair few years now but whilst I love em its not done it yet. Even in this crazy market they are doing well but not so out of line with other GT3s.

Well some have gone from 60-100k very quickly but for a second lets forget values.
Your point about them not being as rare as 964's was incorrect as 964 varients are over 2000 cars.
964's have followed 2.7 and 993 RS's in terms of being collectable as have 996 cars with with 997.
PS don't forget the RS flywheel which changes the characteristics of the car.

I think the regular gt3 is a great buy at current levels and values of the GT3 models were held lower for a period of time due to the non mezger 996 engine issues but people have woken to how great to drive these cars are.
One of Walters all time favourite 911's was the RS. Good enough for me :-)

Yes but his actual favourite is the Mk1, which in CS guise also has the single mass flywheel. Only 28 uk cars too so rarer than any other GT3 variant on these shores, RS' included.

I'm half jesting by the way but £55k is too much for a mk2 comfort. We will see if it sells though.

1. I am am owner and therefore will be perceived as biased.

2. I agree with Rallyeman

3. Why not? To date they do not get any worse...i.e. I do not see a dilapidating shed of a car. Almost all are pampered, very well looked after. Especially if used for track use - more maintenance £ spent on them. And the number of credible alternatives are low...and all asset prices are on the up

4. I do not welcome a silly price rise because then I will have to garage it and drive a 106 Rallye around for thrills.

Take it the frustration of not finding one is getting the better of you now? Every post I see from you seems to be sniping at anyone that dares suggest the 996 GT3 is on the slight increase in price!

So do the laws of supply and demand dictate that they are worth big prices - I use the term 'worth' very loosely by the way.....

As for the parts list I would guess at Rennlist or such or 991UK but am erring towards an American site.

No Clark my frustration is with the Internet and owners trying it on! Of course you think 80 grand for a .2 gt3 is reasonable. Owners tryin it on are just ruining the enjoyment for us genuine petrolheads you really think this car is worth similar to a 997 rs or a 997 gen 1 I'm just stating the truth.

People are certainly testing the market and theres nothing illegal about that.

However, I have a bad feeling that the GT3 market has made a step change. A big one.

OK, my justification for 50/55.
18 months ago, there was a choice of about 4/5 cars for sale, I know, as I was looking. The Polar silver car at Whale Sport Cars, hung around for ages, everything else sold.
Even the overpriced low mileage non a/c car (45k) at BHP, Bucks, has sold. Move onto 2014, and I've seen maybe 3/4 cars sold in the last 5 months. Items are worth what punters are prepared for them. Every seller would like as much as possible for their car.

Are limited colour 997.1RS worth more than a 997.2 GT3 or a shade under .2RS's values? Does it make it a better car for being a limited colour? Are 997.2RS's worth more than the 991'3?

Is a 964RS/993GT2 a better drive than their later compatriots? Not sure on the 993GT2 but the general consensus is no (from what ive read).

How is it spoiling it for genuine petrolheads?

So the £50-55,000 price is more about what you would pay rather than values per se - ? Where are the ones that have sold at or at the very least been offered at this price.

I suppose we shall have to look at what the £80,000 one sells for if at all. Is it open to offers - ? I suppose I should really ask if you have offered this for it.
