Wrong steering wheel, a fair few miles and lacks the interior package, but a 991 GTS starting with a 7 is interesting:

That's a very very well priced car. Amazing value in the current market...http://www.hurlinghamcars.com/veh_detail.php?showP...

Out of interest what sort of Margins do OPC's look to make on trade in's? i get the impression they are a little greedy?
From my experience selling them a Boxster GTS they want to make £7k to £8k, which at the value of my car is almost 15%. On a more expensive car like a 991 they may work on the same amount of money profit so the percentage would be less (someone will be able to confirm if I'm guessing right). More skillful negotiators may be able to do better but they wouldn't budge for me - they were quite happy to take the risk I would sell it elsewhere. On a 911 I'd say £10k mimimum. Once you're dealing with cars over £100k margins actually get bigger....20%. Mate of mine tried selling a car recently and more than one quoted 20% as their margin and they weren't moving! That was from "specialist" dealers rather than OPC's...I would have thought they'd be more competitive/flexible.
If I may defend the dealers a little, I have only ever had a good experience and that's including part exchanging my 'stuff'.
I am a firm believer in building a relationship with the OPC, you're far more likely to get favourable deals as they know you'll be back for more and probably sooner rather than later.

That's obscene...
Do they move very well privately, via autotrader etc? as historically I'v had little response when trying to move £40k M cars..
Totally agree with what Fokker said about building relationships...you get looked after come trade in time as well in my experience. Do they move very well privately, via autotrader etc? as historically I'v had little response when trying to move £40k M cars..
Selling expensive cars privately isn't something I'd want to do and I think is very difficult. Most cars are bought on finance so that rules out a huge number of buyers and then there's the whole issue of security etc ...do you want someone you may only have a mobile phone number of coming round to your house to look at your £80k car ?
20% is a massive margin though I was really surprised...this particular car was a Bentley Conti GT. Usual suspects Top 555, Romans, Bramley all wanted 20% (and were pretty straight about that) and the Bentley dealer he bought it from were even worse! Maybe Bentely's are particularly bad news but it was a good spec/condition and low mileage etc.

Yes, I see what you are both saying, but I'm assuming desirability of the model and its spec, must be a driver in this too?
Dealer has got to pay their overheads/salaries which isn't cheap. OPC's also got to pay for 2 year warranty for the car as well if it's outside of the 3 year manufacturers, 2k+ last time I checked, also any work to pass the 111 point check which is £250.Also got to pay vat on the difference they buy it for and the amount they sell it for, tax on corporate profits. Interest on borrowing to buy second hand cars...... got to let them make a living as well.

I wouldn't say its obscene at all. Break down the margin and you've got VAT, 2 year warranty, used car inspection, part exchange allowance, overheads and profit.....Do they move very well privately, via autotrader etc? as historically I'v had little response when trying to move £40k M cars..
There is no way on earth I'd sell my car privately, and neither would I go and spend £100k on a private sale...each to their own though...
Hello all, although I've been a member for years but this is my first ever post. I just want to say how helpful this thread has been in helping me configure my new GTS. I've managed to get a January build slot from my OPC (long wait I know) but it suits me fine as it will be ready for march im told, so an early 18 reg.
My spec is as follows:

May I be the first to congratulate you on some quite unbelievable lurking....10 years and your first post if an order for a 911 ! Worth braking the embargo for....My spec is as follows:
Shame you didn't post the pic straight
I have a June build slot and need to lock down my spec soon. My current plan is to go for a manual coupe in Crayon with Crayon and Blue interior (buckets). First time I've spec'd from new and hoping this colour scheme will work. I currently drive a 997 GTS PDK and am keen to get back in a manual. Off to the PEC tomorrow for a drive!

Going to go against the grain here , so bear in mind I have always bought manuals and always preferred manuals at things like pec days .
However I did a pec day yesterday ,a full range one and have to admit I actually enjoyed the pdk car more than the manual .these were standard 991.2 s models ,my gts day is next month .
The ability to keep my hands on the wheel and the way the pdk responded made the car not only noticeably quicker on the track but to my genuine surprise also more enjoyable.
This was not the case in the past when I preferred the manual over the equivalent pdk model ,but the current pdk box and the way it works with the chassis and engine actually made the pdk version the more enjoyable .
Genuinely never thought I would say that .

I suppose I'm comparing with other brands, I've just sold my M back to a dealer, they made a 10% margin, assuming it was sold at asking price, which is unlikely. And this was sold back not px. 20% sounds extreme to me. Let's hope this GTS gets under my skin and I keep it for some time...There is no way on earth I'd sell my car privately, and neither would I go and spend £100k on a private sale...each to their own though...

Please post pics of your car when you take delivery! Your configuration is extremely close to what I would spec. http://www.porsche-code.com/PJ5P3CH7
