Well, after what seems like the longest wait in history, my car has finally turned up. Unfortunately a wheel got damaged in transit, but a new one is winging it's way from Porsche GB in Reading. Once this is on and the PDI has been done, I'll be picking it up next Thursday.

Getting quite excited now.

Is the blue bar on the front the new adaptive cruise option failsafecool

So my Graphite Blue ‘Full Spec’ car has arrived....

Arrived without- Cruise control, Carbon upper mirrors, painted headlight washers!!

I’m not really ‘too’ fussed, what a situation to be in, said to salesman what went wrong... he said I 100% sent the last spec before lockdown! He could be lying
Bit of a bugger, but I'm sure that can mostly be rectified.

Cruise control can be retro-fitted by the dealer - I had it done on my 991.1 C2S a few years ago and it wasn't a problem at all.

I'd guess that the carbon mirrors are just outer caps, so presumably they can also fix that. Unfortunately the lower part won't be painted in body colour, but to my eyes that looks strange anyway.

Headlight washers are a personal thing. I was going to spec them on my car, but decided not to in the end. Having seen the car, I think it was the right choice as the black matches all of the other details, and it saved me a few quid.

Either way, hopefully it won't spoil things in the slightest. After all, once you pick it up you'll have a fantastic car.

Good spot and thanks for posting.
This summer I really struggled (as a driver) in the European heat in my 30 year old Carrera 3.2, hence why I've ended up in a new GTS. The Carrera 3.2 lives alongside the GTS and is still a fantastic event to drive - that maybe at half the speed you can muster in the GTS down familiar back roads, although the GTS is (imo) an amazing modern day package tho' certainly easier to pedal at pace.
So far with around 1,200 miles in the GTS with 18-way seats, the Carrera 3.2's sport seats are more comfortable for me on a long distance drive!

Well that happened quickly.

Phoned my OPC on Friday to ask about maybe changing the cars colour to PTS, he rung me back on Monday to say yes, but will be locked down today (monday) for a May delivery.

To say I'm now a little excited is a bit of an understatement.

And yes it will still be orange.

Here is my Porsche code, without the PTS, if anyone is interested:

Not sure why cars need locking so early at the moment, unless it’s just pts cars, as I needed to lock mine 2 weeks ago, I was told May delivery when I ordered a few months ago, but then when I questioned the lockdown I was told Porsche had requested this early for Jan build cars. But maybe mine is a May car like yours as we know they do them in batches.

What specific colour have you gone for?

This forum thread is fantastic and I am now ready to ask a question as I need some advice for you guys -

I am really excited to be going into my OPC this Friday with the intention of placing my £5k downpayment for a GTS build slot. But have 2 questions I'd appreciate your advice on:

Question 1: --

Should I go for a GTS 4 or a 2 WD GTS? I am told that the 2 WD GTS is amazingly stable but I have been spoilt from having a 4wd Nissan GTR that gave so much confidence. In my GTS I don't want to feel any rear-wheel 'twitches', having also owned a C63in the past! I don't consider myself to be a brilliant driver - so therefore what would be my best solution here - a GTS 4 standard spec or a GTS 2wd with added rear wheel steering for example?

Question 2: --

I intend to use the GTS as an every day car - what can realistically expect as real-world mpg?

I'd really appreciate any response before Friday morning - and will let you know what I go for - thanks.

Hi, I’ve got a RWD manual, it was a bit damp and cold at the weekend and got a little twitch comes off a roundabout at the weekend but never felt out of control at any point. Just kept my foot down and felt very easy to control was really nice to have the twitch but really controllable. Much better than previous cars Nissan 350z, 997.1GT3, bmw Z3m. I’m no Lewis Hamilton and done very few track days but at no point did I get that squeaky bum feeling!

Regarding mileage.... mine varies from 15 to 30 mpg deepening on what I’m doing motorway vs town vs having some fun

2WD is fine - only felt a twitch once in 1500 miles. It may not still be so but build slots were further away for 4WD when I ordered and if I were you I'd want the car for summer and before sight if any nextgen models. 24 or 25 mpg in PDK on my rural commute. Record is 31mpg on 200 mile mostly motorway trip to Devon. Worst is 15 mpg in gridlock drop off at school.

Personally, if in doubt, go for the 4GTS, it removes all doubt but I have a 2GTS and love it. The control is excellent and I can confirm that also coming from a c63, the twitch is not the same (thankfully!)

Just a thought, could you pay a deposit and try them back to back at the Porsche experience at Silverstone? I have a manual 2wd and it seems very stable, in damp conditions if you push your luck it will move a little but nothing that serious unless you really provoked it. Brilliant car though.

I was in the same dilemma as you tywitops regarding 4WD or 2.

I test drove a PDK C4 GTS and I was very impressed but it did feel a little bit clinical (I'm no driving God by any means). I have a massive soft spot for my old Honda S2000, so with that in mind I decided to go RWD. I also went for the RWS and manual gearbox options too. I have come from a C43 with 4Matic and the system inspired a lot of confidence, maybe too much as I found that the public roads weren't suitable for me to enjoy such a capable car. It was definitely a case of just point the C43 in the right direction and press the accelerator.

I have a March delivery so hopefully the car will meet my expectations and I am rather excited!

I've had a number of powerful RWD cars, the last being a BMW M4.

Just after I placed my order for a RWD GTS manual, the OPC loaned me a C4S PDK for the day to get a feel for things. I have to say that the 4WD was incredible in that you could get away with virtually anything, but for me, by the end of the day I found it a bit boring (or clinical as others would put it). My PEC day was in a RWD GTS and it was totally different - very sure footed but it would allow you to have some fun if you really pushed it. That sealed it for me and I collect my C2 GTS tomorrow, complete with RAS and manual gearbox.

I don't think I'll get much sleep tonight!

Got to lock my spec down before end of week for jan build. I did the PEC half day on monday that came with the car order. I am going for RWD GTS coupe. Probably carrara white, maybe gt silver. It was a dirty wet day on monday at silverstone. There is a reverse camber downhill bend on the handling circuit and everytime i went round the corner the back end came out, in a playful way rather than a squeaky bum incident.
Listening to the bose and burmester back to back i am definitely going for bose.
Will have to toss a coin on sunroof vs not.
Definitely going for full GTS interior. Expensive but looks great.
I came away more concerned about my driving licence than my GTS spec. Got flashed by the Hadecs system (85mph) going south on the M1 around northampton. I realised afterwards that the only other time i had been through this area in recent years it was 50mph average limit, and it is now a fully functioning smart motorway. I then realised afterwards that i drove through the newly opened m5 around worcester at a similar speed last friday. I’ve only had a single ticket in the last 22 yrs, so hoping i haven't picked up many points :-( I didnt realise there are now permanent speed cameras operational on the motorways that will give you a ticket for doing over the national limit. I thought thy were there to police the temporary advisory limit in peak hrs.
