Which DP? Wasn’t Silverstone or, can’t recall, where the press cars are registered by any chance......?

Thanks David, that's really helpful, but then again, not... I drove the GTS2 at the Porsche Experience last month & it was amazing, so I'm going to have to see if I can get a decent test in the 4
I had 1.5 hours in the 2WD and then 2.5 hours in the 4WD at Silverstone 2 weeks ago. I had a deposit on a build slot for a 2WD, but changed it to 4WD after comparing them. They were both brilliant to drive, but mine will be a daily drive and with the Uk roads being wet and greasy 8 months of the year it makes sense! The 4WD had so much more grip and got the power down better even on a dry hot track. I’m told I should have it by Christmas! We shall see!!

I think 911’s in particular are so prone to stone chip and road rash that the majority of used cars from OPC’s have had some work.

It’s hard do differentiate between a crash or a paint job to fix a chip so I think the OPC should be open with you.

Even when you own the 911 you try so hard to keep the chips away but it’s always a battle you will lose so paint work is inevitable.

I would disagree on that, I sold my car with 5,500 miles, no PPF and the buying dealer could only find one tiny mark on the bonnet that was debatable. No marks on the rear arches or front apron at all and it was no garage queen. Would like to know if the bonnet was actually resprayed as they deducted £600 from the buying price but I doubt very much that they actually did it.

If you bought on PCP and you want to reject it I think you need to speak to the finance company ? Technically it's their car isn't it ?

Not sure you can reject a used car because of paintwork unless they have specifically told you it was original paint/had no damage. New car you would be different.

SMMT and Motor Ombudsman are very good if you have a dispute. Hope you don't!

Anyone got a photo of it in fully extended position not just extended?
I didn’t realise there was more than one extended position!

So above 75mphish it goes into full mode with sport or sport + on. In theory with sport+ above 17mph and spoiler in manual mode it should also fully extend but not in my car
Thanks for this! Be good if anyone had some pics to show the different positions.

On a different subject, I wonder how many people opted out of alcantara? Personally I don’t like it, so went for graphite blue leather, with silver stitching, on a GT Silver body. Very pleased with the result - will try to post a pic....

The spoiler doesn't go to full extension unless the sunroof is open...

My spoiler goes into full mode over 75ish with targa roof closed or open then pops back down to position 1 sub 50mph.
In the Coupe, the Spoiler goes up at 75mph, but if the sunroof is open/tilted, it goes MUCH steeper (don't know about Targa).

From what I understand, you only get the extra extending spoiler with the coupe, -20mm suspension and pdcc.

If you choose that option on the configurator it mentions a further extending spoiler, it doesn’t with the convertible and targa which only get -10mm suspension option.

No offence, but you sound like an embittered and extremely hard to please individual..I wonder what sequence of events brought it on.?
Taken delivery of the manual folding bucket 991.2 GTS. Having owned a 991.1 GTS the interior is identical in my experience.
Solid car, vey fact, 7 speed box is nice even though I only use it as a 6.

Its a quick car too. Exhaust sound is the only real downside compared to the lovely howl in the gen 1.
Performance is on a different scale though.

I've done 1000 miles in mine now since i've had it, with everything from the 2 mile run to the train station, to a 350 mile day which included running down the country lanes in East Sussex & a lot of motorway miles.

I'm surprised how comfortable it is, especially on the long runs & of course, the performance is second to none. I'm really pleased with the PCCB's, which are just amazing. I had a 997 C2S before, albeit a while ago & whilst I remember that being louder, I can't complain about the noise from this one, especially when in sport mode, as I've not got tired of that yet!

Fortunately (maybe), from reading some of the other posts, the build quality in mine is excellent, with no squeaks, rattles etc & the Burmeister sound system is superb when I want music on.

I'm delighted with the car, so am definitely going to keep it for a while & see what happens with the 992 once it's released...

In the GTS brochure it says that only the coupe has an extra extension to the spoiler.
I've not seen mine do it so perhaps as was said before, its with the sunroof open.
I don't have a sunroof.

As I'm driving it more, I think it sounds more like the old air cooled cars.

Morning all,

Just about to order my first 911 GTS! Exciting times, but I require some assistance. I’m going for quite a bold spec, I like it, but there’s a little niggle saying is it just too much.

Your thoughts would be appreciated!

Hopefully will be ordering later on this afternoon although I can expect to see the car next March apparently.

Please any thoughts on the spec, good or bad, will be very much appreciated!
Hi Dan and forum,

Total newbie here on PH and as a Porsche purchaser.... This is my first step up in a long time and its a big one.. history so far includes many 205gtis (1.6 and 1.9), S3s, X5s etc - so as I said, big step up.. and strangely nervous for some reason!

I've managed to get a slot for a newbuild Manual 4 GTS for late this year.... It's my first ever Porsche so unbelievably excited and delighted to see the level of interest and discussions on this chat alone in relation to the GTS - I feel like less of a nerd now for having the configurator open 24/7..

Anyhow, had many of the same concerns as Dan above but happy now to get moving with the 991 purchase all things considered... Also, in my head, it might allow me to move straight into a 992 GTS or GT3 in a few years time all things going well..

The couple of questions I have are:

Colour/Spec - I'm really interested in a dark grey or midnight blue but with a cream interior - Here's the potential spec... http://www.porsche-code.com/PJRVBRG4

My logic is: I love the darker colours and I believe they will sell better but the dark colour, black wheels and black interior is very dark altogether - trying to give it a classier and warmer vibe with the cream interior - I haven't seen this spec yet except on some US images.

1. Which of the additional interior leather features should I add to try and counter the lack of a purists GTS spec and the plastic cabin I see as a concern in some earlier posts?
2. Am I really limiting my market in terms of re-sale?
Really appreciate the input especially from you guys that are the potential market etc...

Transmission/Chassis - I thought the PDCC came as standard but it seems like a spec option and then there is PASM - Which should i add/do I need? When I add the PDCC inc PASM, I also need to add Rear Wheel Steer - should I?

Side and Rear Privacy Glass - Include or Exclude?

Sports Dynamic Pack - is this simply an uplifted curve on the rear wing? Include or Exclude?

Cost - Given the concerns of it being an end of run model, will Porsche consider a discount? Will it help dealer hit numbers etc? Cash purchaser

Much appreciated..

Mine arrived yesterday, after what feels like forever since I ditched the R8. It's taking all my willpower to not pick it up for the weekend. I will fight it though, it's going for a ceramic coat and PPF next week.

Jesus Christ the interior is ridiculous! I think I've done it a little differently to most (and my spec was the cause of some delay), opting for the vents rather than the more common trims in body colour (which oddly, come with leather slats).

I couldn't have had the body colour trims anyway (e.g. door strip, dash panel etc), as these have to stay as carbon with a GTS interior pack. I am very very happy with the result and a bonus that the leather backed seats come with contrast stitching too (IIRC, this was a cost option which I didn't pay for).

Evening all.

Back on page 78, sorry June 2017, I took delivery of my first GTS above. Those who remember back then will note that I have a penchant for a high spec laugh

Well, that wonderful car accumulated nearly 7000 fab miles, including the NC500, at which point I was offered very near what I paid for it (helped by a bit of a discount up front and Porsche raising their prices materially last year). One of the worst car decisions I made was to sell it.

I've since bounced from an AMG GT (second time round), Audi R8 (my third, and finally a good one) and then after my twin boys arrived earlier in the year I decided to go back to a four seater as the R8 wasn't getting used. I tried an Aston DB11. That lasted 3 weeks laugh

It seems once you've had a 911 nothing else will do.

So in June I bought another 911, but this time a two-year-old Turbo S, mainly because I couldn't find a used GTS with all the chassis tech I wanted and I didn't have the patience to wait for a new one again.

It's eye wideningly good. But for some reason that I can't quite put my finger on, I enjoyed driving the GTS more. It had 6k on the clock when I bought it, 10 weeks later it's approaching 10k, inc. a trip to the Nurburgring last weekend. What a car out on the continent!

Then, last week the most preposterously spec'd C4 GTS came up for sale. 8 months old, 2k miles and spec'd to....wait for it....£145k. How ridiculous, even by my standards. Have you ever seen leather stitched speaker covers? It's a new one on me!

I don't think I've ever seen a Porsche with an options list so long. Someone lost a lot of wonga because it was quite fairly priced given the spec.

Even better, my Turbo S seems to have appreciated in the last few weeks despite the miles, which is nice biggrin I bought it privately so no OPC margin to p!ss away.

So, by the weekend I should be in this. It's a daring colour compared to the safety of my black Turbo S....

The interior trinkets are lush and make my efforts on my first GTS seem amateurish. You'd probably never go this mad yourself unless budget really was meaningless but it's sure nice to benefit from it as the second owner!

And the full spec sheet redface

Hope I don't regret moving the Turbo S on for it!
