If you are in the market for a 991.2 GTS this is the only car to buy! Great spec and a fastidious previous owner.....

I agree its a stunning spec car..The previous owner is a Rennlister who'll be along in a minute to remind you of this fact..Nicest 991.2GTS currently on the market..I'm surprised it hasn't already been snapped up..!

Keen to know your thoughts on the change as I am thinking of moving from my 991 GTS to a 981 GT4.

I know it’s all personal views but would be good to get your opinion.
Is yours a 991 GTS .1 or a .2?

Are you moving from a PDK to a GT4? If you're moving from a manual, the shift is a lot nicer, that's a given.
Otherwise, they share the same engine but in the 991 GTS (if .1) it feels a bit more urgent, it revs out to the red line whereas in the GT4 it doesn't. To me it feels frustratingly pegged back and needs a remap.

991.1 GTS is one of the nicest sounding Porsches I have been in bar the Carrera GT. The GT4 is louder but its a different sound, more rough and aggressive. It sounds nothing like the 991.1 GTS howl. .2 GTS is a lot quieter.

The GTS is, in a way quite a hard ride compared to a standard S so I don't think you'll notice much in terms of comfort as the GT4 rides very well.
Apart from the fact that one is mid and one rear engined, the GT4 will just feel a bit slower than a .1 and a lot slower than a .2 GTS. The GTS will feel just as nimble and be just as quick, if not quicker cross country, especially the .2.

I love the GT4 but I've had 2 and done 20k miles in them. I'll probably have another one one day but for now I'm enjoying the 911 experience, which I missed.

Comparing the .1 and .2 GTS, I have tested both and the .1 felt much more solid in terms of perceived quality. The interior of the .2 felt flimsy and rattly - almost Audi like. The interior of the .1 I drove must have been hewn from granite. Anybody else find this?

Audi make pretty solid interiors don’t they?!

The .1 GTS I had rattled and squeaked a lot from speaker grills to dash, air con pipes and sunroof plus the suspension felt a lot harder and less forgiving for some reason. The only issue I’ve had with the .2 is sunroof squeak which was fixed with felt tape.

Porsche, like many manufacturers, have build quality issues. Some people are just more unlucky than others.

Good to hear that the Gen 2 is not fundamentally flaky. Maybe the one I drove was a Friday car.

I try very hard to convince myself that rattles, squeaks don't matter. I guess ordinary speeds (when they're audible) aren't the point of a 911 and they're drowned out when 'making progress' - that's the best I can come up with.

On a separate, non-GTS related note, I've had a go at speccing my cheapest possible 992 C2. Sub 88k + a trip to Litchfield would make for an interesting option driving

Was having a look at 991.2 GTS resale values...

Bought mine in March 2018 at £109k OTR...one of the worst performance cars I've ever owned. Had a 991.1 GT3 and GT3 RS before so it's always going to struggle.

But even in isolation, low torque kills road cornering exits, synthetic noise is a joke and the steering was massively unconnected. When I sold, some chap called me saying he sold into all the dealers. Got chatting about the car and he says what I'm just listed is exactly what's wrong with it but the journalists are too scared to slate it (he was also a motoring journalist so some reading will be able to put 2 and 2 together. Imagine the 992 is the same crap.

Sold it privately in October for £100k, which now looking at the values, I did the right thing. Think I'd be looking at £75-80 trade in now.

What!?

A 991.2gts has more torque than a 991gt3!

Strange feedback indeed- especially as things like exhaust note, torque capabilities when exiting a corner and steering feel can be assessed on any test drive over 15 minutes.

Lol, sorry, meant to say low down torque! As in, pinning it out of corners just feels weird. And on wet roads, it wants to spin up the rear really far down the rev range.

True...my fault for not test driving. But having had several Porsches, I always felt like new = better. I never knocked the PDK in the GT3s, for example. So I had faith in the brand and ordered blind.

Sorry to bash if you have a gen 2 but it's so weak. On exhaust note, the actual exhaust is ok - to be more specific, in Sport +, the noise was rawer but not exciting enough, in Sport, the popping is ridiculously synthetic. It's all masking an engine note that's seriously lacking. Real shame.

Not sure you can accuse the 991.2 GTS of low torque. It's far gruntier than a GT3, it develops max shove at 2,000 rpm. Fair comment on the exhaust, which to my mind is the only flaw on the car. Also fixable via aftermarket solutions

I drove Gen 1 and Gen 2 back-to-back recently and formed a similar opinion. It's a personal thing of course, but I found the Gen 2 really lacking.
