I’ve put a deposit down on the Carmine Brooklands Gen 1 GTS. After a bit of negotiating, got to a good (and fair) deal including taking my CGTS in.

The car is solid and, for my money, all the performance I’ll ever need. Now into counting sleeps. :-)

I made the same move from CGTS.

It drives a bit differently it’s fair to say and it took a couple of track blasts to really get to know it, but what a wonderful thing it is. Enjoy it as I’m sure you will. The noise and power at the top end are addictive.

Yes, the impression I got from two test drives has really whetted the appetite. Hopefully this will be a keeper :-)

Collection day. Just love this car.

I'm glad Porsche held the Cayman back, it's really made the jump up to the 911 worthwhile. Fantastic and far from dead below 4k rpm (in my opinion)!

thanks Mike - fastest colour by far. Worth at least an extra 40 bhp.

Yeah, they seem ok so far. The rears are new so they have to bed in a bit.

VTS is doing my head in though.

Get it turned off? Or do you absolutely need or for insurance where you live?

It’s for insurance. Getting insurance sorted was a total farce. I tried all the recommended names and they were either too expensive (1k+), or had to refer to underwriters with a 48hour delay. I wanted to go with a sympathetic insurer (I.e., where I had the choice of repairer) and in the end A-Plan found me a good deal. VTS seems to have settled down today.

Today was unexpectedly sunny so a good chance to get rid of the cobwebs. Sports mode, with PDK in manual mode & using the gear selector rather than paddles: sublime.

Have to say being an old git the insurance costs do go down some!

Managed to get 30 minutes out on the wolds on Saturday, even some emptyish roads. Little things better in life.

IIRC I think there were 50 manual 991.1 GTS's of the 500 or so cars. It's the same with the 997 GTS....Manual cars in the right spec rarely come to market and sell very quickly.

Always an upside!

I ended up paying £600. I think that’s fair enough really. Cheaper deals available, but this is not the kind of car you take shortcuts with!

With you on the enjoyment, just an exhilarating car. Not sure I’ll ever use the sound system :-)

Possible Puncture.

I have a slow puncture I think in my OSR tyre. Tyre monitor keeps telling me I am 0.3bar low but doesn't go any worse than this.

I have the GTS alloys and centre nut, I am being told by Porsche Nottingham that they cannot repair punctures and it will be a new tyre. The tyre is nearly new so slightly disappointed that it cannot be repaired.

Anybody used a decent tyre firm that can get the wheel off safely and repair?

Many thanks

If Nottingham is your local this probably won’t help much. There’s a indie tyre garage on the entrance of the industrial estate at Porsche Silverstone. The indie is currently doing all the tyre fitting for Silverstone whilst the OPC is upgrade/extended. The indie repaired my centre lock tyre that had a screw in the middle of it, for around £30. They have all the correct tools and did a sterling job. I’ll be using them for all my tyre requirements going forward.

Thanks for this information, I will look for a local place that can do this for me.
