I know its the mind of someone who is bored but ...........

Configured a 991.2 Targa - £132,000

Thinks - what else is out there for that money

£250,000 Bentley Mulsanne pops up at £100,000 + . Almost tempted but I would need a driver as I think owners have to sit in the back?

Buy a chauffeurs hat and black blazer for (delete as appropriate) - brother, wife, girlfriend, son, daughter and voila cheap/free occasional driver sorted

Still not sure I can live with the front though ... A face only a mother could love or some such expression comes to mind

But it's amazing what £125,000 buys as an alternative to a 911.2

You will all say nothing compares with a 991.2 no doubt !!

Well Porsche would .............

For the price of the above 991.2 Targa, I would look to find a 996 RS or a 997.1 RS or maybe a Scuderia - all of those are available ar about or from about 150k euros, so pretty close. If I want sth more useable/daily, 132k is getting close to earliest FF money, imo still the best daily there is (biased though). At a lower price point a 997.1 or 997.2 GT3 as well as a 996.1 GT3 would be in contention. A McLaren 12c could also be interesting at a similar price or a 599 HGTC ..... Ah I could play this game all day long with mobile.de open .... Sometimes I do

Finally a 991.1 Targa (in whichever version) would probably win out if I wanted a Targa or a G63 AMG if I needed to tow stuff

I wouldn't pay £132k for a 991 (and I've owned 2).

I concur with that thought

I've been spoiled as my current three Porsche cars are depreciation free - so the thought of shedding £60,000 in three years has minimal appeal

Mind you any car at £130,000 ish will shed that too

Surely a Mulsanne and a 991 are entirely different beasts?

How have you come to the point where you're choosing between a monolith and a lithe sports car?

Or are they both GT cars in your mind?

No I am just intrigued by what £130,000 buys you

I would love a Mulsanne for the experience and a complete contrast to my 991 GT3

Have I the balls to own one and get out of the drivers seat ??? Sadly not !!

I've done the brand new 911 (997.1 though, significantly cheaper) once before and would not repeat it again on anything non-GT.

£130k gets you some fairly top end used machinery... that will hold value better than a 991 Targa in the next 3 years.

It's all relative mind you...I used to think people that would wack 40-50k on a 330d convertible were bonkers when you could have a 1 year old m3 for the same price. horses for courses smile

That's about McLaren 12C money. I think I'd try one.

mhhh just found this thread again when searching for threads on the Mulsanne (and read my old contributions) .... got to say at 60k, they are starting to look tempting to me. I don't own (well I don't need) a car with 4 doors, but having something to waft along on occasion does seem tempting. Maybe I am getting old ...

They are a bargain. I'm not sure I'd call it ugly, but it's not a real Bentley.

Last year my old man bought a Brooklands - now that's a proper Bentley! I think they'll go up too, unlike Mulsanne, which will turn into a cheap wedding rental car.

In no way comparable to any kind of Porsche though...

Look at the weight of the Targa and "lithe" is the last word that comes to my mind
