Okay we have all seen the videos and the pictures. Porsche are not trying too hard to conceal its existence. So when do we think it is coming? I'm actually a bit excited at the prospect. Does it mean that there will not be a GT3RS gen 2 during the life of the 991 model range? Could be interesting as if that was the case residuals on the current RS will increase. VAG will be encouraging Porsche to sell as many new cars as possible to fund the fines that they have incurred so I believe a launch date could be quite soon. Would a GT2's power delivery be a dissappointment after the screamingf GT3's ?

At a guess - by paying the (probably) 250k euros plus options price tag assuming it is "as limited as" the GT3 RS and accepting you will get one of the later cars

How you get a RHD one I dont know, esp if the keep prices artificially low. If they price it at a 1.17 FX rate, I suspect even RHD should be possible to get.

I would guess that unless you have purchased a GT3 + GT3RS + 911R + 918 in the last few years then you will not be getting a GT2RS anytime soon unless it's at a vastly inflated secondhand rate.

We had a conversation recently with somone who is taking delivery of a 911R very soon who is also supposedly down for the 991 GT2RS something which confirms the new models type. Apparently the UK is to have a total of 60 cars only. Having owned a 991 GT3, 911 Cab and now a RS I guess that I have to accept that in comparison with the serial buyers of mutiple new Porsches that I have very little chance of securing a GT2RS. My life will not come to an end as I feel so very fortunate to own my truly amazing 991 GT3RS ! biggrin

might help to start buying some stock cars from a dealer now - would pick one that is not too big though.

As they did not build a normal GT2, I would be suprised if the RS is as limited as the last one (possibly even unlimited like the 3RS given that VW Group needs to make money ...).

For a similar price to the new RS, you could pick up the truly limited (probably in the future more valuable if that is important to you) original RS ... manual too:

GT3RS production ceased a little while ago hence OPc's are now allowed under their dealer agreement to advertise used examples. There are a few awaiting parts to complete their build hence not all have been delivered. smile

I actually meant that he should buy a car that OPC wants to get rid off - eg a new stock current Panamera Turbo (previous generation) or a demonstrator - something that the dealer makes some nice money on and that will bleed depreciation .... buy one or two of those with a tacit agreement by the dealer principal that in exchange you will jump close to the top of their internal GT2RS allocation list. Should improve your chances I would think.

I would rather buy a car that I actually want from a manufacturer that is willing to take my order.

that is fair enough, but if the car in question is (a) produced by Ferrari or Porsche and (b) is really limited (see F12tdf, 458 SA, 911R etc.), then that might be tough without being a known good customer - at least in the current market evironment. I just suggested a way to improve his chances.

But as I wrote earlier, I do not think the GT2RS will be really limited as no normal GT2 first, so the combination of not all that limited and the probably 250k Euro price tag should ensure that it will not be impossible to get .... of course I might be very wrong on that one.

I would rather buy 488 "Speciale" for similar money, and at least getting a 458 Speciale was possible by just walking into the dealership and placing an order... so should be a good substitute (and also less chance of killing myself in than in the 2RS)

Not necessarily. I did not get an R (some mess on my OPC's side) which I really wanted and was offered a GT2RS "as compensation". But I am not a Turbo man and don't buy cars to flip them so I declined

Fully understand your thoughts on Turbo power delivery. Drove a 488 Fezza recently, it was soon faaaast though not in a way that I like. The new GT2RS will behave very differently . It will not echo a Turbo S with even more, it will be very different with its almighty power delivery! Quite what we have to do to be offered a allocation I don't know....

Which kind of proves my point, if you were inline for a 911R then I assume you are a long standing customer who has bought many cars.

You won't be guaranteed one. If there are only 60 cars coming to the UK then every OPC will have well known customers already in the queue and on the waiting list. There are a lot of us disappointed about not getting an R, and will have had a discussion about the 2RS and other cars many months ago.

Yes think about 30-35 UK dealers I believe so about right but the bigger dealerships get more cars so some will get 1 if lucky.

Does anyone have accurate figures for the 997 2RS, I believe it's around 20 cars? The standard 997 GT2 was only around 60 units.

I'd guess this would be a limited run wouldn't it?

Be great to see what they come up with, will be a beast.
