Even the Huracan grows wings when it's tasked with setting a fast lap of the ring.anyway if so, another reason ring time nonsense ruins a road car (for me)
911s cannot have the underbody aero of the mid engine rivals because where the engine and turbos are is too hot and needs to vent this is why they have always needed crazy wings.

Porsche tried the unlimited approach often enough - they could only sell about 1,000-1,200 996 and 997 GT2s and those were not limited imo, there were just no more buyers out there. Not sure how easy it was to sell the GT2RS, but it dropped from list for a couple of years if I remember correctly.
Same with the Carrera GT - that was limited - but they could not even sell the entire run.
As a result, I'd say very sensible as long as it has a positive effect on sales across the rest of their cars.
Yes, as do we all. That opinion is indeed correct, however was written before the dawn of time and is continually being regurgitated time after time. Point I am making is they could still make 2000 and they would still sell £150000 over list. So why make 600-1000 cars? times have changed since 997 massively
I think the simple answer is production capacity. They only make 30,000 odd 911's a year and seemingly have more customers than cars right across the range. So if they make 2000 GT2RS's then they'd have to cut production elsewhere. Must every thread turn into a debate about allocations and availability? Does this happen on Ferrari threads? Actually, whether it does or not, guys it has all been said before, pearls of wisdom and gnashing of teeth, toys out of prams, toys in prams.
Looks like a brutal mad thing. Let's celebrate that.

It's an interesting business model and I do wish we knew what was discussed in the senior Porsche sales strategy meetings. Selling short of the market demand on the odd model I can understand from a halo perspective, but selling below demand on umpteen models seems a missed opportunity. It also rather annoys me, but that's a different issue related to them now wanting to sell me a 991.2 Gt3...AndrewD said:

Totally agree. I am just trying to make the point that when the 997 GT2rs came out there was not the demand there is today. (So please make more than 500!!) Been luckily enough to get the last three GT cars so certainly not complaining.Looks like a brutal mad thing. Let's celebrate that.

As far as I am aware happens a lot less on Ferrari threads because Ferrari buyers have accepted that they have to buy a lot of non limited cars / cars they might not necessarily want (and lose 6-digit amounts in depreciation) to get allocations while Porsche buyers only want to buy the limited cars and not the bog standard cars to build up goodwill .... don't think there are many/any not famous people who can only buy Speciales and TDFs without first having bought a lot of FFs, Cali, 488s etc .... I unfortunately can't afford to do that for Porsche or Fertaris so accept that I have to pay a premium in the secondary market if I really want a GT car - luckily they seem to build a new o e every 6 months nowadays, so plenty of choice
Don't believe it on Ferrari. I'll never buy another. Gassing Station | 911/Carrera GT | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
