Considering 991.2 GT3's with a wing can be had from 140k on now chaps, I think 200k touring are absolutely ludicrous to be honest. The difference shouldn't be so substantial I just cannot see it.

Maybe there still are enough people who want one. Delta doesn’t make sense to me either.

Also, you can never really see how a deal is structured. Eg buyer may have been happy to ‘overpay’ in return for a speedster slot*, or the car maybe have gone for thousands under asking price but dealer will never admit that, the garage may have overpaid on trade in too to make the deal work, car may have been retracted by the owner, etc.
...I’m every case the dealer will claim a £200k sale and those dealers with similar interest will propagate the same story ‘we heard a car sold last week for ....’

  • back when the winged GT3s were being offere at £185k, I had a number of OPCs - franchise and retail - offer me cars with the carrot that they will consider it when future GT cars are released. Of course there is no cast iron promise so every buyer is being told same story. Maybe the £200k touring buyer trumps all previous £185k winged GT3 buyers...dog eat dog.

If there are less Tourings in existence, worldwide compared to the 911R of 991 units, then could one argue that either £200k for a touring is cheap, or £300k for an R is expensive?
I appreciate one is a numbered limited edition but they seem so similar to my untrained eye.
Do we know roughly what the numbers of Tourings in the world are? Or it’s still too soon to know as deliveries are still ongoing?

This forum does make me laugh, people commenting on the right / wrong spec, what is the best colour.....so often by people who don't even own, nor will ever own that particular car. It cracks me up, just reading this at lunch, i reminded myself why i stay away, it's full of daft opinions. My car, driven today, photo'd now, sod the weather, this morning i fancied taking this one, yes in the wet, yes in the rain and yes in these leafy windy lanes where i live!

I have no care for what anyone thinks about my mileage, spec, or value up or down, as i bought this car to do what it does - which is make me enjoy driving it each and every time i get into it. If it's worth 50% less than i paid (list from OPC), so what, each mile and pound lost has been enjoyable. Some of you lot, typing away, go out driving and put a smile on your face, whatever the weather, though i suspect a lot of you can't actually drive. And tomorrow i might do the same to my RS.

to be fair if you think you were going to loose 50% of it's value I doubt you would have bought it.

All well and good saying that but we all know they hold value very well even if used you get a free car for 2 years !

Hold on - you have no idea of my position before you make assumptions on whether i would buy a particular car or not. If my investments, businesses and property are growing at X, why would i not mind loosing Y on cars??

Also, i've owned new Maserati's, Range Rovers and Cayennes etc that have all lost 30-50% over time, so why would i care what this particular car does. Again, all opinions just because its a GT car - some people buy cars to purely enjoy, i know, it's an odd concept that - to buy something to use and smile at. as the bank say, you only live once and you cannot take it with you.

it was a comment from the 50% you are ok loosing, but if you are making > 50% in this climate on property and investments you know a lot more than anyone else I know and that is very valuable skill set you have there.

Here we go, the classic forum patronising know it all. Didn't say i was making 50% on investments did i, no. I was simply saying if i lost £55/60k (50% off its list price) on the car over three years i'd not give a monkeys as it's all washed through elsewhere in my world and i had enjoyed using it properly. So if i made xxx over there, would i mind losing x over here on a car? No. As i am still up.

Plus It's no different to someone loosing the same percentage on a mondeo or fiesta is it, it's just a different cash amount.

xx

Although I agree that talking about personal wealth is a very vulgar subject, what he says is completely fair. You just didn't understand his post.

Can we get back to talking about values now please wink

Christ, haven't they dropped though lol

Couldn't agree more, it wasn't about my or anyone's individual position. The point is simple, regardless of the value, a car should be bought to be enjoyed and if at the end of your time it's gone up or down, then who cares as long as you've enjoyed the ownership.

I think the GT3 / RS is a car to be used, that's what they're made for, so regardless of what colour car or spec, its irrelevant because at that moment in time when it was sold, somebody chose that spec. Who are we to judge.

The same can be said on houses, some like old, modern, rural, city, but we don't see forums of people all giving their two pennies worth.

My point was simple. I have some cool cars, I use them properly and what they were made for, I'll never win Les Mans, or lap the ring in under 7 minutes, but I track them around Europe and enjoy them, which is my choice as the owner, to do as I wish with the car(s).

If a consumer can buy one for below/level/above list and you can afford it, buy one, they're great. Simple. But let's not slate people's spec choices for when they bought it new. It was a personal choice, like a partner, house, holidays, lifestyle, it was one person's moment in time of saying 'i love that, and I'll have it'.

I pity the people who don't drive their cars. Soon 6 000 miles, and plan on adding many more!

It will be a fun story for the grandchildren. Yeah, you know, I actually did own a GT3 back in the day. Yeah, yeah they were road legal, 9000 rpm, 500 horse power, yeah yeah lad you could drive it yourself and go where ever you wanted... yeah I know, the sound! Well, I don't really know too much, I kept it in the garage and only drove to and from the dealer. But hey! I made 10k on it, so, you know!

We must all remember that the main reason these don't get driven as much as they should is lack of time! I've only done 1,800 miles in my GT3 since March, but that's due to lack of time, not desire. If I didn't work I would have more time, but no GT3!
