We are living (have lived) in extraordinary times with zero interest rates which has made a 150 - 200k car more obtainable for a wider audience. Once that changes normality will prevail and it will turn to a buyers market again (it already has for most luxury brands). These times will come again and i think that manufacturers are just reaping the last of the summer wine before it all turns a bit tougher out there.
This is true but in the mean time cars have become a more "global" product with a wider interest. Higher interest rates will probably hurt sales in some markets but if Porsche GT cars keep being so good (or at lest so different) compared to the competition, I see no issue in finding buyers with the current outputs of GT/special cars. robgt3 said:

Should I be fortunate enough to be offered the chance of one or the other I would be a little undecided as there is no denying the virtues of PDK though must admit to rather enjoying the involvment of my GT4's excellent manual.

But yes, the GT4s gearbox is a peach......actually preferred to the 911 Rs box by many too!
Interesting what you say about the possibility of a spoiler delete 'beards' GT3. First I have heard but I actually prefer the car with a spoiler....theres no denying the spoiler on the 991.1 GT3 is prettier than the RS albeit with far less aero but for road use this is more than enough imo.
Porsches pricing will also be interesting. Wonder if the 'manuel' and PDK cars will be identically priced reflecting an anticipated parity in demand.

The OPC's know who will get one, even before their allocations. So, if they get 5 of them, they know who will be getting them. Putting a deposit down means nothing,,, imo.

I think people on here have a very short memory. The vanilla GT3 has never been that exclusive. You have always been able to get one if you wanted one. With a bit of delay and not on a 2-3months basis but you could get one. Admittedly demand for these cars has risen with low interest rates but still.. I think there's a decent chance you can get one if you really want to.
The only reason the 991.1 was so abnormal was the engine issue with the stop production.. that artificially limited production coupled with A LOT of orders being cancelled as people bailed out. Those like me who stuck around were rewarded but many didn't... then the review came out and started to praise the car and people wanted one.. but was too late given production issues.
Similar to the Speciale where people didn't get too enthusiastic to start with but then changed their mind as it was described as one of the greatest modern Ferraris ever made. But there you didn't have production issues so people for a little while at least could still place an order.
So I wouldn't get too bothered about the new GT3. They will probably make enough and couple that with the rise in rates which will happen during the life of the car and then we should have depreciating cars once again and flippers being bitten hard in their @ss. Power to the drivers.

The spoiler would be the same as fitted to the 911RStrange to hear that people are claiming to have left deposits for this mystical GT3 Gen2 when OPC's have been instructed by Porsche not to accept any until they have confirmed allocation. I have tried but my offer has been politely declined. Porsche are trying very hard not to have a repeat of the Bolton affair. I also believe that by doing so could affect their allocation of said car which as yet has not even been announced.
