The LWBS suits anyone if either by body type or personal preference choose to have the seat in its very lowest position. That's my preferred setting and the welcome side-effect is by lowering the rearmost part of the seat cushion results in a less upright backrest.
However if an individual is short or has a short torso relative to his legs and the LWBS needs to be raised substantially then the backrest becomes more upright. This ties in with some people who find them too upright. Can some owners on here substantiate this or am i speaking from mylaugh posterior orifice..

I have the 18 ways in my gen1 and they are grippy enough for me ( slim build ). I do not** have a iffy lower back myself but if you do its advisable to somehow get a extended test drive ( 2hrs ) with both sets of seats, this is however tricky to do. There would nothing worse though than buying a car you feel uncomfortable in. And if the 3k is accurate on resale re 18 ways versus buckets then for that pittance any buyer should just go for what suits them.

If I do get an allocation I will probably opt for the buckets next time due to it being a weekend fun toy and not a daily..I try for a test drive, if its possible.
Hi,
When you get your allocation, PEC are very obliging re time in the various seat combinations. I’ve arranged my PEC day early to try all 3 options: Gt3 full buckets, GT3RS folders & Carrera 18 ways, prior to my lock down in early Jan. I, too have a dodgy back following a sports injury & surgery, so getting chair time in each was a prime objective as my previous GT3s were 4 ways.
Keep the faith.
  • Sorry, misread thought you had the dreaded L4-5 bad back.

I'm 6 ft and incredibly handsome which is probably why I find the buckets really comfortable.
You are indeed like me John, a good looking guy so it sounds very much like those of us who have been blessed with film star features suit buckets best.
I know someone who swears by comfort seats and he's a Lee Evans lookalike. Says is all really? smile

I think as much an issue for me is the buckets transmit more of the bumps from the road,as well as the lack of inflexibility seat angle wise.
Whilst I’m sure ones build is relevant ,I would think I would have suited them being 6 foot and 12.5 Stone.

I have been watching this forum since I was told I was first on the "disappointed list" back in March this year after the launch in Geneva....

I am now pleased to say, I had "the phone call" whilst over in Vegas celebrating the start of the last year in my 40's, literally on my birthday morning, to say I had a Feb build slot!!! gob smacked and needless to say it did ace my already planned helicopter tour to the Grand Canyon!

So happy, but now the hard decision's begin, and you feel like you gotta get it right and after reading most of the last 50 pages of this thread and different spec's this morning suffering from Jet Lag, I'm no nearer what to go for....

My current Gen1 991GT3 (bought as I didn't think I would get the call) is in white, which I love, and has 18 way comforts, PCCB, FAL and a few other bits and I was going similar in Carmine Red but it all seems like you have to go full buckets and club sport or it may not do as well as others in holding value.

I do like a bit of comfort so I guess Its going to be a long weekend of chewing over configs now, but I cant wait, let the jet lag continue!
Firstly Alan - congratulations on the call and I hope it didn't dampen the helicopter ride too much!

You've got to spec what's right for you even if the car is worth a few less grand come resale. Get what you want as you can't order a replacement if you get it wrong!

My mind was set on comforts as I will use the car everyday, but in the end I've gone folding buckets as I liked the stripe and the buckets made the interior different and more special over my GTS. That was my sole reasoning so I'm hoping I don't live to regret this decision!!

I've also gone with steel brakes to add balance on the pro PCCB argument. One factor is cost (not the major driver) and the second is I found H&T more difficult in my GT4 due to pedal position and initial 'grab' of the PCCB. Others have said no problem on the GT3 but I wasn't prepared to risk over steels that have a softer initial bite.

Oh and no CS so its probably worthless already!

In that case why not just get the Touring where the cage is not an option so you won't be discriminated against when the time comes to sell..I toyed with the thought of getting the Touring but i didn't want to risk losing my allocation by delaying..
Your opinion on the PCCB equipped GT4 being very awkward to h&t tallies with mine exactly and why in the end i chose PDKS on my GT3.However it seems my fears have proved unfounded based on the comments made by Andrew D amongst others so in hindsight i probably should have gone manual.

LOL - Don't start me on Touring spec! I went to the dealer to spec touring in white with PCCB and comfort seats. My family and dealer went 'No that's too Carrera'. Ended up with wing, buckets and red pinstripes (daughters input). I did stick to manual though I wobbled for a few minutes on that as well!

There's not a bad choice for a GT3 so I'm happy atm though I hope it locks down soon so I can't make any amends.

My dealer was pleasantly surprised when I spec’d Touring in CWM with PCCB’s, Aluminium wheels and LWBS’s as it will hopefully go under the radar when I’m driving it.

I would have loved PTS for a GT3 in Gelbgrun or Voodoo Blue but when this wasn’t an option it was either a Yellow car with yellow stitching or go Touring and a more subdued colour.

Thankfully we are all different and there will be plenty of different cars to see in the next year.

So I wanted the 'brightest' silver wheels. The OPC thinks there are the standard wheels not satin aluminium. Does that make sense to other people?

‘Brightest’?

To me the std wheels are the ‘shiniest’ and the satin aluminium are the ‘lightest’ (if that makes sense).

Re LED headlamps.

They are chuffing expensive considering how low-tech they are but they are by far the brightest main beam of any car I’ve owned. They make a huge difference when hooning the back roads at this time of year.

I had a friend years ago with that same mix of traits. The benefit of being extremely handsome is its an effective weapon for getting the ladies into bed. The plan however fell to pieces when we actually got into bed until i arrived at a very imaginative innovative solution.
First of all i would switch off all the lights so my bedroom was in complete darkness, then i would excuse myself to go the bathroom for a leak.
In the bathroom hiding was my ugly friend with the huge knob who would switch places with me to do the dirty deed..It was a satisfactory conclusion for all involved with the added bonus that i gained the rather prestigious title of being both very handsome and extremely well endowed to boot.
Its all about collaboration to achieve a happy outcome for all involved.

This thread had taken an extremely disturbing turn but if you and R want to reminisce about your joint endeavours swapping in the dark I suggest you could write a book? smile

Coincidentally I have gone for only one shade of Metallic Grey (Agate) with deviated stitching laugh I specified my car yesterday (Friday) for Feb build/Mar delivery. Many thanks to all those posters who contributed to this forum, it's been a great help in narrowing down colour choices and so on.

Spec is: Agate, Satin Black wheels, Ceramics, Black LEDs, PDK, Lift, Clubsport with Folding Buckets, deviated stitching in yellow with yellow seatbelts.
