This has got to be the best looking so far! Not a fan of black wheels to " Essex boy racer" for my liking, hide the wheels shape and attract dirt, got to be silver or platinum IMHO !BTW, are those graphite or platinum wheels?
You know what he means. Black loses the detail. Also they blend with the inner circumference of the tyre, so you can't see where one begins and the other ends. They just look like undefined blobs to me.
I'm with the posters who don't get black wheels. It only makes sense to me on 'murdered' cars - think RS6 in black with black wheels and black windows. Now that I like.

...and especially with the GT3, these are gorgeous wheels, with some nice dish to the rears, centre lock, a really beautiful open-5-spoke....I'm with the posters who don't get black wheels. Unless you're having bright silver decals/graphics..in which case brighter wheels would tie in.
I love GT Porsches with some script or stripes... and the wheels would co-ordinate with them.
So back when RS started, you had red or blue graphic with matching wheels
997 GT3 in that gloss grey with wild red graphics and matching red wheels..
but equally if you were going less overt with the decals, if its a bright colour....I don't think you can wrong with wheel finish choice (not black! )
and the darker tones of blue and anthracite do well with brighter wheels..or platinum
Black though...that would suit a meaner look with platinum I think...
The above pic could well be either cwm or crayon?
Either way it looks great. One pointer on the black wheels, I had platinum on the first red car and now have black on the current white one, they look totally different in the flesh. Pictures don't do them justice. It's good to have a contrast on a car so a light colored car benefits and the black also matches the other black bits such as end plates etc. the crayon car with black wheels looks superb.
Phooey, I think either of the silvers will look good against black but equally platinum, which would be my choice. The Steve McQueen slate grey 911r with platinum wheels looks very good.

Wheel choice is doing my head in! I've currently spec'd the standard rims (silver) but now contemplating switching this to the brighter satin aluminium (as per 991 R). Body colour is black. What do you guys think?
I was playing with the configurator lunchtime today to decide my final colour and basically i'm all over the place. I've more or less decided to drop the black rims for all the reasons cited above..I made a black one with standard silver rims and i thought it looked stunning as long as you don't want a contrast with the black bits, although probably not for me as i've had a few black Porsches and i fancy a change.Strangely i prefer flat black but its a soft paint so it would require paint protection from new imo..My new favourites for the day are yellow and also sapphire blue with silver rims which are both bright sporty colours which suit our dull UK lighting. After reading the latest reviews the choice of gearbox will be down to personal choice as both have received equally positive comments. It looks as if Porsche have really hit the bulls eye with the new GT3 and definitely the most exciting car i have had the privilege of specifying..
Yellow and a manual - great taster vid!

Wow, what a car, I really really hope I get allocated one. Would love a bit of PTS and go Voodoo Blue - I ordered my GT4 in Voodoo without seeing the colour in the metal, very anxious seeing it for the first time, but Voodoo looked sensational. Huge respect for the PDK but a manual for me please!
