I think I've seen something about this before, but with about 2,500 miles on the clock now I've got a very distinct and annoying rattle coming from somewhere in the rear of the car

It sounds like a stone rattling in the brakes but right at the very back and somehow inside the cabin. It's not happening at idle at all, only on the move, and I don't think it's connected to speed but does ease off under load (or could be the volume drowning it out). On cornering it stops temporarily and gives the indicated that it's something loose.

Any ideas?

There'a poster on here who also commented on an annoying rattle in his new GT3..I've listened to mine (PDK) and i can't detect anything but i'm 20 years older than you so my level of tolerance will be much less sensitive to annoying noises..
Having said that i do sometimes detect a faint pinging noise which is the cage flexing on its mounts..Do you think it originates from the gearbox...?
You haven't mentioned it in the videos you've posted or have i missed it..?
Oh yes ; i think the Merc GTR is way too wide for Uk B roads compared to the relatively lithe GT3..You also made a great choice with regards to the PTS colour..

I’m loving the warm road/tyres. Slingshotting out of corners reinforces my choice of PDK (if were still on that). biggrin

Gratuitous photo on my daily commute......

The GT3 hadn't actually started making this noise at the time I filmed the last video with it; I think it's clocked another 1,000km since then. It's a very significant sound though, you couldn't miss it. I need to do more experimentation to discover what it is but curious to hear if anybody else experiences it.

Hi guys!

I’d like to read your opinions about the Dunlops Race2 on track.
I had my first trackday a couple of weeks ago in Imola, full day, about 80 laps, 2.5° of camber all round.

Tyre performance is very good, they warm up fast and don’t overheat easily...but I had a strange central wear on the most stressed front right tyre.
Run them at 2.0 bars hot.

I also experienced some rear instability when hard braking which I think can be related to the tyres.

After 80 laps the tyres would be shot, fit for the bin. That's more than an F1 race, and at least twice what an average tracer does. Don't blame the tyres !

Ok but the question is why central wear instead of lateral?

Michelin Cup2s and Pirelli Trofeos with the same laps on the same circuit in the same day have a much better wear

If it is a central wear band pressures are too high...

If you're doing a lot of laps in a session, pressures can really ramp up, especially if you're pushing on.

centre wear is basics, too much air.

to help rear end you could monoball it RS style at the rear.

I hated the Dunlops Race1 and binned them after 1 track day, so would not even try the 2's as I like Cup's and would stay with those.
