V8 Vantage with 79k?
Discussion
Dipping into the AM section for sage advice.
Just out looking at an Alfa 4C in a dealer when someone traded in a 2006 V8 Vantage for one. 79k on the clock, manual, FSH etc.
Dealer hasn't had it on the ramps yet but said it may need a new clutch.
What should I look out for on a high miler? Obviously at this mileage it should go to an Indy garage? Will be coming home with the 4C next week, but if it's a steal then will take both.
What could go wrong
Thoughts?

I trade my Vantage coupe in with 83K miles on it. Other than stone chips to front and a bit of paint bubbling around door handles, it looked a few years old rather than 10 years old.
All the common fixes/service items were done over the years and generally it was in great condition. Had its first clutch change at 73K miles.
The only thing I can think of that it might have been nice to change was the suspension. An upgrade to sportspack would have really refreshed the drive.
Otherwise nothing to worry about - they take the miles well

. Told me there's about 12-15k left on the clutch.
Even a dealer can't tell.
I do not own a Sportshift, so do not really know, but it has been mentioned more than once on here, that it is possible to measure the amount of clutch wear with Sportshift transmissions.
Of course with a manual car, the only clue is when you can induce slipping, but at that point, a new clutch will be needed very soon.
I expect you know, with the rear gearbox configuration you get a perfect front/rear weight balance, but there is much more work involved to change a clutch.
Clutch is likely to be the most expensive thing that may be needed.
Check all service paperwork to see when/if it was last changed. Do the same for the brakes as these can also be costly if both ends need doing.
Paintwork etc is easy to check (and should be).
Also check spec carefully against price - nigh on everything was an option in 2006. Base spec cars will be hard to shift.

It's on the original clutch at 79k miles, no signs of slipping either. Happy to replace the clutch but are there any upgrades worth looking at over the OEM clutch?
ETA: Twin plate organic clutch

Lots of debate on here about clutch upgrades. So few going non-OEM that you'll likely need to make your own mind up/take a punt.ETA: Twin plate organic clutch

I did 55k miles on mine before trading it, and it felt fine at that point. I'm not convinced there's anything wrong with the OEM unit, so wouldn't have paid the same/more for something else. I felt the same about brakes.
Solid deal I think. Came out to 35k with small dealer margin and sorting out new tyres, registration (out of state car), new oil, detailing, prepped and ready for collection tomorrow etc. Still looks fairly new inside and out.
The 4C with the ideal spec (MUST have the 5 hole wheels on the spider, most came with the spider-only fan wheels) is out of state so will be shipped over this week.
Quite excited to blast hp and down PCh and the canyons in a Vantage I must say!
