I'd go for adaptive suspension over those options, have you tried both?

No haven't tried both. To be honest will I really notice the difference in day to day driving? I'm coming from a 1.7 diesel Mokka so anythings an improvement.

Agreed adaptive over any of those. Apparently rids it of the poor, jiggly ride. The Valencia Orange is a nice colour.

The ride is so well judged for road use I didn't feel the need for adaptive - still performed surprisingly well at Spa... even for a road car.

Having said that it's a cheap option so might be of use for someone.

What's more effective - adaptive dampers or fitting normal tyres. Anyone know?

Both make a sizeable difference, but firstly you can always put the tyres on whereas adaptive dampers are harder to retrofit, and secondly the M140 comes with Michelin Pilot Super Sports unless you tick the box for runflats (which are a no cost option).

So the M140i on normal tyres still doesn't have a decent ride?

In my opinion, as an owner of an M135i at least, it is the suspension rather than the tyres which have the detrimental effect on the car.

I don't know whether the M140i is better resolved but certainly, the M135i, on standard suspension isn't able to deal with lumps, bumps and imperfections as well as it should, given the performance on offer.

Non runflats will improve the ride quality but ultimately don't cure the suspension shortcomings.

As I say though, the M140i may be better and, to be honest, if the OP has placed the order, it isn't worth worrying about as it is still a good car!

Exactly!

With an auto box, H&K and an MPE it is still going to be a superb car in terms of how it drives and how it sounds (inside and out!).

I've got an M135i on Mich PSS and without adaptive damping and i'm happy with the ride, ditto with my M235i.

The 340i on adaptives rides better until you hit a pothole then it sends a shudder through the whole car, though that will be resolved by Tuesday when i lose the runflats biggrin

I do think the adaptive dampers are worth having, but not having runflats probably makes more of a difference (IMHO).

Haha I did chuckle at all the comments.

From what I've read opinion on the adaptive suspension is split 50/50.

I may ask my dealer to see how much it would cost me.

My M135i had its first service last week at 24200 miles. It's either fast or frugal and is simply epic for the money. You'll love it OP cool

Does the new engine sound better than the old one? I have a 235i and the engine noise is a major disappointment.

No problem with the way it goes but could really do with another 20% growl factor. As it is now it is perfectly suited to a 3 series saloon but sorely lacking for what should be a more sportingly focused car.

Did you fit the BMW M Peformance exhaust? Less than £1k fitted and make a lovely noise.

Remind me to never come on here saying I ordered a new car, it'll end up costing me thousands!
