Hi cmoose ,
There doesn't seem to be any date limitation on the Porsche PET but on Pelican parts they only list the 9x7 arm part number that begins with 997. Is it worth emailing Meyle and asking what the difference if Porsche won't play ball?
Taking a wild guess that none of the other numbers for the rest of the suspension system show no superseded part numbers they well may be the same. Is it worth asking the vendor if they can send both sets to you with the wrong item on a return basis?

I hope this helps.

Happy days. I wold trust Hartech to deliver a quality refurbished item, and for £125 extra for piece of mind is worth it in my opinion.
Let us know how you get on with them

Maybe a moot point since you've gone with the Hartech refurbs but the Meyle website lists the 416 050 0000 part number for the rears through to chassis number 986U774551. My Cayman S was registered March 2006 and was built early 2006 but has a chassis number about 600 units before the change over to the later rear arms.

I just fitted a pair of Meyle front coffin arms on my car. I've barely driven it since (as I'm now halfway through replacing the coolant pipes!) but they did look to be decent quality and I've not heard any negatives about Meyle so far.

How much are the Hartech ones each?

Unfortunately that thread seems to have gone quiet so its not clear whether the void filling on the Meyle bushes is a success. However I'm pretty sure the later rear arms (Porsche/TRW or Meyle etc) will be interchangeable with the earlier ones based on the fact that there are no differences in the parts they interface with (as pointed out by Huskyman above). These seem to have a stiffer middle bush so I'd bet the Meyle ones would be as good if not better than the earlier Porsche/TRW ones fitted to our cars.

What was the best price you found for the later Meyle 416 050 0009 arms? Had a quick look and the only ones I spotted were on ebay by seller "Johnyboy-1" at £255 for a pair.

At that price, the Hartech ones may be a better option assuming all bushes and the ball joint have been replaced with items matching the Porsche/TRW specs.

I fitted a full - full - set of Hartech arms on my 996 in November; the car feels like new compared to the creaking mess it was before and the arms certainly looked as good as OE.

The slightly questionable (and inconsistent) nature of the Meyle arms made me rather choose the Hartech ones - as you say, the surcharge paid up front makes them seem very expensive, but once you get the core charge back, the cost comes down to a sensible level.

All it's done on my car is expose how woolly the original 70k mile dampers are - they're within spec for their age, but are rather soft. Öhlins beckon!

I was told by my local independant that cheaper 986 arms will fit a 987 but have a smaller weaker inner bush so dont use them. mine got replaced for about 350 per side all in inc labour as , in common with most, the chassis bolt seizes in and needs to be cut out by air saw down either side of the bush. its a bd job.

i put a similar thread up on this topic and it was mentioned that Hartech do refurbs, so I returned my CTE's only to find that Hartech do not offer rear control (coffin) arms for a 997.

For those who are saying they replaced all four with Hartech....I'm not sure how this is possible given what Hartech just told me.
