If it hasn't fallen out, nothing obviously looks broken and you get no wind noise when driving then I'd just leave it.

Ohlins r & t ( plus some new drop links & top mounts ) fitted

Could not be more happy, but it is early days.

Currently the dampers are set at 14 clicks ( of 22, with 1 being fully firm) ride heights are
F 125 / R 140.
No negatives so far, but significant positives in all departments.

Chaps

I lent on the small side window today and felt a jolt as it moved inwards. Do I need to worry?
Yeah, they push in and out a bit on the rubber seal.

I believe so. Not original to car, added by prior owner ( not the 4th who I bought from) as far as I know they are OEM - but not 100% sure. They are 18's and I do know the rears are wearing 265 tyres

Edit to say: they could by the C4S lookalike wheels that design 911 sell as the '50X' 18 inch wheel. Probably are considering my tyre sizes. They are certainly no lightweights, but will be staying for the foreseeable.

I'm most interested in low speed ride on poor surfaces. Mine is quite crashy, but improves with speed. For road driving the body control is pretty good when pushing on.

Current dampers (996c2) are std with 57k miles on them from new assuming they haven't been replaced . Ride quality was improved a bit by reducing tyre pressures & I think will also be improved by replacing the old s02's

My new m030 suspension on my 986s also had similar characteristics.

Have you seen the YouTube vid ?

Hi edh.

So far I am amazed at the huge improvements in compliance ( ride ) on challenging surfaces and sudden imperfections. The car already had a really nice geometry set up, but that also served to show up the shortcomings of the stock ( and 93k old) hardware.

It was a bit crashy and ' jiggely' far to often - and the good inherent dynamics of the chassis were hidden by too much body roll, the nose dipping too much under braking and other irritations which could be summed up as a general lack of poise.

The improvement is huge. It is day only day one and too early give you much reliable detail ( which is subjective anyway) but the whole car seems better in every respect with no discernible negatives. The obvious benefits are, ride - firm but smoother. Control, much more settled under braking, flatter cornering - crisper but predictable turn in and also improved traction out of corners.

I have only driven about 30 miles on well known B roads, and it is definitely less effort to carry more speed everywhere with a greater level of comfort and feeling of control/ security. The car just feels dialled in and very accessible.

I had seen the video. Did not do nearly as much as described in it, but still delighted with the result & looking farward to feeling my way into it more fully.

You could get these for the Boxster so I'd guess that's what these are.

Thanks, that's really interesting. I can't help thinking this setup but maybe with softer springs would be ideal for me. Think I need to get a drive in an ohlins car sometime....

Prices must be climbing, or that's a bit toppy price wise?

The former.

Come on, that's less than a new Juke (or Joke, as I call them) and looks fantastic.

You can't compare a Puke with a 911, £15k seems a little high for a 115k car that's all. Mine must be worth more than I paid and spent on it now then biggrin

I agree it's toppy price-wise, but I'd say it's had a lot spent on it.

Obviously a good rebuild would be ideal.

It's a cable throttle C2 Manual with GT3 kit. Quite a rare beast and becoming very desirable.
