Inevitable I guess. Buy one now (if you want one) and hold onto it before everything goes crazy.

At some point interest rates will have to go up and then surely these silly priced cars will soften.

Does make me laugh as a car with 100k will have knackered dampers, and the plates in the LSD will have worn so it'll be ineffective.

So a car with an open diff and standard (knackered) dampers with less miles, is accordingly worth less eh?
hehe

I was in contact with Friends Green Porsche on a silver aero car with 80K that sold very quickly for £17.5K, they informed me they have coming to market in the near future similar spec red and yellow cars both with 100K plus that they will be asking more for?
Looks like early 3.4 aero cars with LSD and M030 suspension are pretty hot in the market at the moment

Yep, pretty much.

Although I'm not sure the diffs wear at quite the rate they do in other cars I've had. To be honest, on the road, I don't need or want an LSD.

And if it was spec'd with M030 and has had like for like replacements then that makes sense.
Mine is an M030 car but now on Bilstiens. That's probably a few thousand off the residuals on the aircooled market for non-conformance to paperwork, but I'm just happy it had fresh dampers.

It's going to be a long wait...

I'm sure I am like many, thinking that with cash earning very little, why not stick some of it into a car that is at the very least going to hold its value and will probably gently appreciate.

Early 996 C2, manual, cable throttle, LSD seems to be a sensible spec.

You can't drive a S&S ISA! smile

Has anyone experienced a 996 with a lighter flywheel - I think this could provide more excitement than an LSD.

I'm not sure I really get the LSD thing. I'm under the assumption (probably wrongly) that it only works when one wheel breaks traction.
Am i missing something?

I can't really say I've noticed my lsd so far, maybe I'm not trying hard enough!

Agree - I think it's very hard to break traction in mine, so LSD not coming into play. Even on damp roads, the traction coming out of bends is very impressive.

It was more for the "spec" perspective when buying / selling really

Did the C4 have LSD as standard?

Seems to be a fair few aero cars knocking about at the moment, was barely any when I was looking which is a shame as I love the look of them, especially in red or yellow. I think the early cable throttle and 3.4 engine hype is a bit overdone tbh though, i personally think it's just another reason to try and talk the cars up, especially given that most people saying that already happen to own said car. 99.99% sure i get as much joy out of my C4S Tip than I would out of a cable throttle early car at the end of the day. Probably paid slightly too much for mine as well given it's over 100k miles but it's had a full hartech job so i'm worry free.

TBF, you're clearly not looking for the best drivers car so no, you wouldn't enjoy it any more than what you have.

Except this isn't the playground where we're talking about things we happen to be unwittingly associated with. We actively and knowingly went out and bought whatever we fancied. We were, and continue to be, advocates - I'm not sure if I'd describe it as hype. Most of us want continued access to the market at an easy entry point.

There are lots of reasons to want an early 3.4 996 that have nothing to do with the cable throttle. To be fair, if you want to avoid hearing us talk about them, the 'early 3.4 996' thread probably isn't for you.
Clearly there are lots of reasons to want a C4 Tip too, and yours sounds like a lovely one that makes you happy.
I'm not sure if I'd be able to live with the 0.01% doubt you speak of though! Why the lack of certainty? What aren't you sure about?! 😋

Will dig out some pics of my old Ocean Blue '98. It wasn't as shiny as that, even when it was wet!

It was a lovely, tired old thing. Bodywork was in a bit of a state, but it was fantastic relief after the stress of leaving a GT3 anywhere, and a better road car too (IMHO of course).

Didn't know the thread was locked to owners of 3.4 996's only?! Oh wait.... that's just my opinion as i said. I love what i've got and you love what you've got so there we go. The c4s was too pretty to ignore for me, but i don't want to derail the thread just merely stating my observations since having recently been looking for over 6 months and recent market movements

Thanks Rich - they could be twins..

I had it machine polished & waxed after I bought it last year - they did a great job as it was pretty flat & swirly. TBH I didn't realise it had metallic paint until they had done it smile - the paint comes alive really nicely in the sunshine. The interior is spotless, so it's in great order for an 18+ year old car.

I'd just given it a top up of wax, now it's dirty again... smile
