I rather like that. It's a bit too garish for me with the orange accessories, but if the stickers were removed and the wheels replaced by some BBS LMs it would look pretty cool. At least it isn't a 997 conversion. Bit dear, though I can understand why.

I joined the cable throttle 996 C2 club last night. Mine is rather more under the radar than the one above in terms of looks.
There is a set of LM on ebay but they're 4 grand.
They weigh more than the moon though, exactly where you don't want that weight.
Ah

I've not managed to find any after market 17 inchers. Everyone seems to sell 18 only. Maybe the answer is stick to the oem 17.

I need a set of new tyres pretty soon and have been thinking that it would be a good excuse to upgrade the wheels at the same time, The LM wheels look gorgeous I think on the 996. Can you pick up a set for reasonable money ever? Are any of the replicas any good, or is that too frowned upon?

Do what you want. Its your car. I have a couple of pairs of 265 35 18 Pilot Sports 4 with very little use. PM me if interested and mention the PM in here as I dont ever check my junk folder.

I've got a set of 18" 997 Carrera 3 wheels in anthracite I'm going to put up for sale. One wheel needs a refurb which I'll drop off over the weekend to get done, they've got plenty of life left in the tyres too

There's also a s/h set from a 964 for £2500. Offsets look slightly low for a 995 but they might just about fit ?

The joy of preventative maintenance - in changing the voltage regulator on the alternator, the oil filler pipe is now broken.

Never, ever do anything to a car unless it breaks!!

Or get some Fuchs?
I like the polished/satin ones on a silver car.
About £2k for a set.

did you get that Lapis Blue one on eBay with the 997 rear lights and white bits? Thought that looked like a good base.

I have the 10 spokes. I don't think they twist - they stick.

Rear offset would be wrong as when you go the other way you need spacers on the wider 911 rear to clear a 986 strut. It will be somewhat offset so to speak by the narrower wheel.

The 17" 10 spokes are the lightest OE wheel available for 996 full stop: http://www.944racing.de/wheelweights.php

The 18" 996.2 five spokes are the lightest 18.

I rather like OZ Alleggerrita as lightweight 18s.

BBS LM are a pain to keep clean and maintain polished lips.

Just be aware of the effect on ride quality an handling of moving to 18" wheels. I rather liked my car on heavy 17 carrera 4s before moving to 18 sport classic II.

As a result I'm slowly collecting 10 spoke 17" wheels (got 3, just need one rear) to run as winters.

Mine were a steal with decent PS3 tyres. But the wheel condition is errr poor at best. I bought cheap with the intention of trying them out and so far so good. I might get them refurbed at some point if I decide to splash out on new boots.

Okay, here it is. 1999 3.4 with the sports suspension option and LSD (which is probably worn out now, I know...).

For me it's the right blend of being in good condition without being too mint - used, but very smart. Completely standard inside and the previous owner spent quite a bit on replacing the small things that I wouldn't notice, like radio knobs, sunvisors and even the cup holders that clip into the air vents.

Mechanically it has had A/C condensors, coffin arms, tyres and multiple other parts in the last 18 months. The previous owner wasn't afraid to spend money when required, which I like. Clutch is less than 10k old, too.

The eagle eyed will notice that there's a tiny spot of rust on the top of the RR arch and that when the wheels were refurbished last summer the company didn't use stainless bolts to rebuild them so they've gone rusty. These are first on the list.

I'm very happy two days in. In fact I'm off outside to fit my Pure Highway 400 DAB adaptor.

That looks lovely!

The seats don't look like they have many miles on them!

Is it a factory sport kit... I thought sport kit included 3 spoke wheel and bigger exhaust tips?

Well it's the M030 suspension option, judging by the sticker under the bonnet. The interior is basically standard, but the seats are electric and heated. The exhaust is a Dansk one (fitted last year), which sounds just right to me without being too loud or boomy.

Ha, no it doesn't! I like them as they are - especially on a silver car. I test drove the one from two pages ago (the 1997 black one) and was surprised how old fashioned it looked with the orange indicators - nice enough, but not my cup of Earl Grey.

Cool... I have Dansk on mine (new last year), and I also have a silicon pipe from the airbox to the engine (removes the resonator) which gives a bit more induction noise.]

Mine is arctic with clears, and think they look good... going to refurb my headlights in the next couple of weeks.

That sounds interesting. I'll investigate further.

Very smart looking car! Congratulations!!
